Description Name:  Bitilisk

Element(s):  N/A

Ailment(s):  Poison, Deadly Poison, Paralysis

Breakables:  Crests, Spine Fringes, Limbs, and Tail (can be severed).

Habitats:  TBA

Monster size:  993-1600 cm (32-52 ft).

Subspecies:  N/A

A stealthy ambush predator, the Bitilisk is a snake wyvern like the Najarala and Remobra, though like the former it prefers a terrestrial existence.  It's body is perfectly camouflaged to resemble the leaf litter it hides among, covered in attractive brown and white patterns and covered in leaf-like fringes.  It's hide is prized among hunters.

Sensing it's prey through the thermoreceptors dotted around it's mouth, the Bitilisk hides on the forest floor, poised to strike when such a prey animal wanders by.  It's bite is exceptionally deadly, paralyzing it's prey almost instantly (in game, it would have the unique and deadly ability to cause both poison and paralysis simultaneously through it's bite).

Monster Hunter belongs to Capcom, and the Bitilisk belongs to me, , and Monster Hunter: Kaiven.

Thank you!  That's mostly inspiration from the Gaboon Viper.

I guess a minor thing but, Snake Wyvern? Give that it has four full legs it seems an odd distinction. Why not an Amphibian? Why not a new classification altogether? While I appreciate sticking to the prescribed formulas and definitions thus far found in the games, there's a lot to be said for the evolving nature of MH. There are monster types with only a single example each (which is sort of a superfluous distinction given the current levels of taxonomy in the games, but I digress).  So... I guess why Snake?

That's just be being picky though. Feel free to ignore my ramblings. >_>

Well like you said, I was just sticking to the formulas that the game provides.  After all, it is a mostly snake-inspired creature (with the Gaboon Viper being the biggest inspiration).  But it's true that their classification system is a little wonky.  Like how the Remobra and Najarala don't have too much in common aside from being snake-like.  If I were making an amphibian, I would design it with more of an appearance to actual amphibians (a salamander or caecilian would be good candidates.

All in all, I chose snake wyvern mainly because the Bitilisk is mostly snake-like.

Very neat, but aren't wyverns supposed to be winged dragons?

Thanks!  By any other standards, yes.  But in the Monster Hunter series, wyvern is used as a more generalized term used to refer to any number of creatures.  In this case, a snake wyvern is merely a type of monster that has snake like characteristics.
