It's so true! I wondered just how Charles managed to get out of there alive. Seriously! They were surrounded by people who had just tried to kill them, and yet they managed to escape back to the mansion, somehow.

That really is a valid point, but...in his defense he wasn't exactly in a clear-thinking state of mind at the time. Remember how he tries to strangle Moira, claiming she is responsible for Charles' injury? And he feels terribly guilty and he sort of just wants to run away. I'm not saying it's right, not at all, but I do get it.

After all what Charles had done for him! Accepting the pain of Shaw's death to keep Erik save! Saving him from the river! teaching him how to use his power - between rage and serenity - AND HE JUST LEAVES HIM THERE ON THE BEACH!
