The directional forces used in the picture is very nicely done; the branched all lead to the focal point (the Bird). Also, the colors create a very nice, soft feel and the depth of field only emphasizes that.

As for the actual sharpness, the bird isn't sharp enough, but that can be artistic intent so it really isn't a valuable comment. It really depends on preference.

One thing to think about when composing a picture is the balance of the overall piece; is there any other figure that might overpower the main subject? Is anything heavier? Is the pice unbalanced? I say this because the branches are the brightest in the picture, therefore the eye goes there first, and the are also bigger than the bird.

Overall, this is a very nice picture. Nice Job e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Big Grin)"/>

thankyou for the critique, I appreciate it a lot I'll be honest and admit the bird was supposed to be sharper but I struggle with the small birds at distance due to the Tamron lens I use being a litle soft at full zoom, It's not really an issue on most things but getteing intricate detail like birds feathers really requires a staedier hand than mine at full zoom with this lens, the brightness on the branches is just sun on the smooth bark and I did wonder whether I should adjust for that but decided to keep it cos it was the natural light (and I can be a bit lazy ) My composition needs a little work in generall anyway so am happy to hear any way it could be improved.
Thankyou for giving an honest and considered opinion

Oh man, No problem. I'm glad to help. I think i might start asking for critiques too. I get them in Art but not photography.

Ahh, Glad, my friend read the critique and she thought I was really mean. Sorry if I was,

hm, the head is blue but this makes you think
for example, once I thought: why kingfishers are blue on top and orange in the lower? they always stay on branches, so I think it's to look like the sky-sun for fishes (orange), and to look like water and rivers for predators (falcons in the sky)

Oh yea the head is blue I never actually noticed before, given the usual meaning of tit though I still wonder why a yellow breasted bird is called a blue tit
