Photoshop CS5.
I haven't had so much fun for a long time - I was laughing out loudly several times. My son contributed quite a lot of ideas to this. And again, I have no idea what category it should be: fantasy...? surreal...? dark...? humorous...?

I love this, not only is it abstract and humorous but it is also a poignant reminder that pigs provide heart valves and many other medical necessities as well as foodstuff.... The mighty Hypodermic Pig should fly on every hospital wall

Oh wow...! I swear I haven't thought of all this - and this is such a fantastic interpretation of the image! Thanks for sharing it with me; I always say to my students that it is one thing what the artist's 'message' is; an artwork's interpretation consists of two absolutely equally parts: one is of the artist but the other, equal part is of the audience. These two together form the impression of the work.
Your interpretation is a wonderful, wonderful addition!

Thanks... more of a thing for me at the moment... I watched a science thing the other day where they took the hear of a pig and stripped it of all genetic material leaving just the framework, like a decayed leaf. Then they implanted normal stem cells into it. Apparently the stem cell just knew what to do on their own with no stimulus ... overnight they began to pulse in union. Trials are ongoing but it seems you can grow a new heart for yourself one that will not be rejected by you own body. your work just reminded me of that, I just put it in the simplest of terms.
The houses look like little cigarettes too, a known cause of heart disease lol maybe I got a good imagination but your art speaks to me

So so lovely I adore this pic
On the other side I feel very sorry for it and even if the overall atmosphere is so happy, it makes some kind of sad

What an fantastic comment, Anna! Thank you very, very much! I am THRILLED you find it BOTH funny and sad; that's exactly how I see this image too. It is so very great that this double-sided feature of it has gone through.

Glad you like it, Inge; kinda 'light' Halloween version I guess. Resisted the 'bloody snout' idea... for the time being
