Description
During the nights of the new moon mermaid sightings become startlingly common. You’ll be able to see them lounging on beaches, perched on rocks and in some cases even daring to climb upon man-made structures like piers and bridges. Almost everywhere except actually in the water.
Most people do their best to avoid or ignore them, scared of the countless stories told by sailors of mermaids luring good, honest folk to watery graves.
But if you were to actually observe the mermaids during these times you’d notice that each and every one of them was absolutely terrified.
Because when the moon is new and the skies and seas are at their darkest, strange, terrifying creatures rise from the deeper waters. They are mermaids too, in a way, but the depths twisted and changed them and now, once a month, they hunt their shallow water kin and feed on their soft, tender flesh. The only reminder of the light and warmth they abandoned so long ago.

Marmaid for the monstergirl challenge
There's no need to worry about angler fish mermaids when you're swimming. They mostly prey on other mermaids.
Although they do have really poor eyesight...
And you are technically half mermaid...
I'm sure you'll be fine.
Probably...
Yeah, don't go swimming when it's really dark outside.

Yeah, that is 20,000 leagues of Not Okay.
Seriously, I'd drown myself, if I saw something like that.
