first time drawing both fusions, well their heads anyway.But one thing that evident in Steven Universe is how the fusions Sardonyx and sugilite are mirrors to one another
* both require garnet to form
* sardonyx briefly belittles and ignores amethyt, and passes a few insults about her while doing her thing; while Sugilite belittles pearl, and even brutally beat the crap outa her
*their respective episodes (coach steven and cry for help) mirror each other in how its done
* Amethyst and pearl manage to get the better of their counterpart's fusions by beating them at their own game: pearl physically tricks sugilite into unfusing by using sugu's strength against her, while amethyst prevents another sardonyx fusion by revealing pearl's true motives via intelect instead of brute force
all in all, despite amethyst and pearl sometimes getting along, thier fusion forms till belittle their respective counterparts more evidently. its odd how Opal can stay so calm with these two isn't it. But what really strikes me as odd is that sardonyx and sugilite need garnet to be themselves, but why doesn't garnet seem to notice the belittling the fusions do, does she just not care? or does she just realize there's no stopping the rivalry between amethyst and pearl?
So this one i decided to do a lil theatrical balance: using the famous theatre masks as inspiration for sugilite and sardonyx's expressions. (also sugu's background is a shade of sardonyx's skin and vice versa)

I think it looks goof but the shadings need a little more work. And Sardonyx's nose maybe you can make it more straight then curved? Other than that its good. And also Amethyst has more bust than stomach, and her hair would be up to her knees. And Pearl has a more oval face and longer neck. I'm not being mean though. I'm just saying that you should never let anyone bring you down and always do your best!
PS: Amethyst has bigger lips so maybe you can make them bigger.

I be ####### its good and cute luv it still! I think the shading needs a little work and the noses and they're all making the same face anyways it's cute! I would try making the expressions more you know original? I think you should spend a lot more time cause it looks like it took a minute and the but in the first piece it's weird try harder that's my words anyways when I mean original I mean not using the :3 faces over and over again cause, it gets a little uncreated but, it still creative still tho cute!

I think Garnet knows there's no stopping their rivalry.
I did wonder how Opal is so serene being made from those two. However, maybe it's because they only form her under the rare circumstances that they're both in total agreement: the first time, to save Steven, and we know how much they love Steven, from becoming lunch. The second, the thing they fear mostΒ was happening: the Homeworld Gems returning for a showdown with technology a thousand years ahead.Β

probably in an alternate universe, where the fusion gems and base gems are switched.
which i think would make for a cool special where there are 4 AUs of Steven, where depending on the diamond who rebelled determines steven's gem and guardians

Yeah, and I think it's because pearl and amethyst always feud among each other, and so when they fuse with garnet separately, that's the part of pearl/amethyst that's being shown. And before you say anything, yes. I am a hardcore fan of SU

Do you think if there was a possible way for them to meet that Sugilite and Sardonyx would act like that toward each other since their just extreme versions of Amethyst and Pearl?

that may just be it
but i like to think that in an alternate steven universe, the 3 chrystal gem fusions (sardonyx, sugilite and opal) take the places of pearl, garnet, amethyst and pearl and that those two probably do squabble like ame and pearl do. though now i just realized that whole idea is flawed because garnet would have to be either sard of sugu, so it'd probably work better if it was sardonyx, sugulite and alexandrite, with opal being the "rose" in that AU

Actually I think opal would be the garnet since she's basically the balance of two opossing gems. Also you would need all three gems to make alexandrite. Plus if it's an AU the fusion gems wouldn't be fusions they'll just be normal gems with of course Opal being the exemption.

While she doesn't have Garnet as part of her fusion she is kind of like her both are a fusion of gems that have different personalities and are stoic. Plus if Sugilite is the Amethyst and Sardonyx is the Pearl it would make sense that Opal would be like Garnet since she is a balance of Amethyst and Pearl, she would bring peace between Sugilite and Sardonyx much like Garnet does with her team.

yea but alexandrite also acts a lot like garnet too, heck i'm pretty sure that alexandrite is mostly controlled by garnet moreso than the other two, cause i'm sure that in a gem fusion, there is a dominant gem and a gem(s) who take the backseat
