I headcanon Simba as a straight ally. I think we don’t need an introduction for him, really. Simba in my headcanon is pretty much parallel to how he is in the actual movies. I don’t see much point in changing the personalities of canon characters.

In terms of personality, as an older adult, Simba is rather soft-spoken, even in front of his family and closest friends. From the trauma of his father's tragic death, Simba also became fearful and overprotective, especially with his son and heir, Kopa, as he feared the dangers that lurked in the Pride Lands and later, the danger of the Outsiders.

He finds it difficult to trust others, given his traumatic past. His trust issues were one of the main reasons his relationship with his son reached a breaking point, as he was unable to see past the walls of the Outsiders, especially Vitani, something Kopa was able to do right from the start.

Even though he had his reasons, he came to the realisation that he had been in the wrong and is finally able to put his tragic past and hatred of Scar behind him, remorsefully apologising to Vitani and accepting her and the other Outsiders back into his pride, thanks to the guidance and wisdom of Kopa.
