Description
Children of Change, and one of two main branches of Shapeshifters. Their lesser brothers come in a variety of types, some can transform only partially, some are limited to a specific set of forms. The Greater Shapeshifters have no such problems. Β On the contrary, they often struggle to maintain a single shape. This is not undesired however, as the element of constant Change is sacred to them and attachment to the outside world minimal at best. It also makes them nearly unkillable, as every wound will simply morph itself into a new shape. The only way to destroy one of them physically is to disintegrate one into complete nothingness.ΒRelated content

One reason why I stopped cartooning about 25 years ago, was that too many stories couldn't be finished. I may re-use some Plasma pics tho.Β

It looks like one of their shape-shifting tips is: When in doubt, MORE TEETH!

More like midpoint,in shifting from one shape into another, in a maddening spectacle, the sight of which would strike a viewer with intense horror !

Sequels !
They are never as good as the originals.
The Harry Potter novels were continuations, not sequels, so they did get better..

Well, it's finally over. To be honest, it's kind of a mixed bag for me. I found the story itself pretty good, and all the sceneries were marvelous, I liked how they put that much effort and creativity into this world. But man... those heckin' wood hippies! Gelflings, you say? More like cucklings to me! In the final episode he almost killed the general, but what did he say? "I'm not a murderer like you!", and pull out the sword. Excuse me... WHAT THE ACTUAL THRA ARE YOU DOING? Ahhh... Sorry, I just can't stand scenes like this. At least there were enough "mmmMMMmmm!!!". I found it too cruel for a younger audience (hell... "lesser Lords of Changes", a.k.a. Skeksis' are sadistic beasts!), but also a little bit childish for adults. Overall I liked it, a strong 7/10 from me. I hope the second season will be slightly better!

Thank you for sharing your opinion. I partially agree, although I think some of that was by design, I mean the original already was this kind of "too dark for kids, too much a kids movie for adult fantasy fans" which put it in a weird gray area and lead it to financially fail at the time of the original release.
Rian's unwillingness to kill the General was weird for me as well, especially at first. Later I thought it makes a bit sense, as he had known the origins of Skeksis and Mystics, and has witnessed them sharing wounds during Hunter's attack. I still think it was awkward and perhaps will be touched upon in the aftermath of the battle, at the start of season II.

Oh, I didn't know that the movie was a financial fail... How this became a classic, then? There were a lot of fantasy films in the '80s era.
Strange, I didn't find "The Dark Crystal" as dark as the series itself. It was more family friendly, I think... Not to mention that Skeksis weren't that brutal.

I think, like many cult classics, it has only became such later on...
Well, the scene with essence drain still traumatized a lot of kids xD And I am quite happy that they have made this new series more along the lines of 80s PG13 rather than modern one lolΒ

Agreed! Otherwise it'll be lines likeΒ "Did you just assume my skeksisness?", or something silly like that. And at least IT'S NOT FUCKING DISNEY!!!

I think it's the only of the recent years' prequels/sequels of the classics that managed to capture the feel of the original... I felt like the people who made this genuinely cared about it.Β

It would be difficult to make things worse then they are at this point, but a dedicated director he is, no one would accuse him of not trying.
