Half human- half salamander...
It reminds me of an axolotl

Doesn't it kind of look like something?

Chamjari In reply to KingsOfEvilArt [2018-02-06 14:43:07 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, the analysis of the scene (and the literature, I'm not sure, I haven't read it) and the script by Clive Barker basically breaks the Engineer down to a drippy hanging dick monster.

That's not to say this is the true Engineer, which I think of as some kind of avatar of Leviathan. The closest I've seen to my idea is the weird, almost elevator, device that transforms Dr. Channard into a cenobite and the worm head-screw that directly links him into Leviathan. It's not so much a character, but a kind of living contraption.
It is the part of Leviathan that analyzes humans and creates cenobites.

KingsOfEvilArt In reply to Chamjari [2018-02-08 10:25:50 +0000 UTC]

This could be an interesting concept, as Pinheads nails are inserted by worm-like appendages similar to those Doctor gets after getting dickworm plugged into his head. Maybe engineers actually engineer new cenobites. After all they were unusully interested in Kirsty, 'perhaps we prefer you', maybe she had the potential to be cenobified, unlike Frank.

Chamjari In reply to KingsOfEvilArt [2018-02-09 12:46:54 +0000 UTC]

Whoa! That's right. Pinhead's "pins", more like nails, have giant maggots coiling their tips in Hellraiser III suggesting that every pin is tipped with the power and will of Leviathan. He is connected through a grid of worms interacting with the labyrinth of Leviathan. He's not just a hell priest cenobite, he's the strong arm and avatar of the Leviathan labyrinth itself.

Just a theory though^^

KingsOfEvilArt In reply to Chamjari [2018-02-06 14:54:59 +0000 UTC]

No, in the book Engineer is a totally different character, in fact, he takes Pinhead's (whose design, in turn, is present in one of the minion-cenobites, likely a female) role as the leader cenobite. he does not appear for most of the book though, only being mentioned, and appearing towards the end. He is a weird guy with a glowing head. I don't remember more about his description though.

I amended my first post. But I'm sure it's still really arguable. I haven't read the books though. All of my ideas are based on the movies.

With the new film though, facts, analysis, andΒ  theories (me)Β  will be challenged and reaffirmed.

Chamjari In reply to KingsOfEvilArt [2018-02-09 13:16:02 +0000 UTC]

In truth, I haven't watched it yet. But, some reviewers say this marks an upturn in the franchise,Β  Although it takes some literary material and "adapts" it for the screen (some say poorly), it manages to produce elements that fans will like. In addition, this is the first (outside of the shitty previous one just to keep the license) that represents Pinhead with a new actor, not our beloved Doug Bradley.

I heard it's worth watching and descent but not exactly what the ravenous fans want. Let's watch it and discuss it later. I'm kinda curious of your opinion.

Always been curious why it was presented like this in the film. If I remember correctly, in the novella The Engineer was a female Cenobite that was their leader. I do remember Pinhead had a brief appearance in the book, and was presented totally differently from the way he wound up onscreen. In fact, the way Pinhead is described suggests being either male or female.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

KingsOfEvilArt In reply to thereal9thdoctor [2018-02-03 07:27:50 +0000 UTC]

are you sure that Engineer was female? I read the book last year and as I remember he was referred to as a male.Β  You are right about pinhead though.

thereal9thdoctor In reply to KingsOfEvilArt [2018-02-03 15:27:11 +0000 UTC]

I could be wrong. I don't recall for certain. I remember a scene with a female cenobite sitting on a pile of of bodies or skulls, and she was naked and covered in blood. I thought she was referred to as the engineer.
