Description Another step of KORSP; The Red Planet;  It was usually associated with warfare. This interpretation is based on this idea, giving Mars blood-red skin covered with mysterious runes glowing with rage and bloodlust. It lacks a head and instead has only a small stump that also steams with anger.

The series is influenced by astronomical, mythical, occult characteristics of the planet, by planet's symbol or simply by my personal thoughts of a particular object. In this case, the inspiration was dream creature with strange hand forming a shield and tentacle-spear appendage, very much like the symbol of Mars.

As far as the runes go, I dunno if they had any meaning. Obviously, I didn't remember them well from a glimpse in a dream, I recreated them by sort of automatic drawing - even before I knew what it is.

Anyway, I am looking forwards to the plans of colonizing Mars in XXI century and hoping that astronauts won't meet this guy when they land!

I predict nothing but evermounting trouble for Mars colonization, even if 1-way trips only.

Best to try the moon.

Why so pessimistic? The moon is certainly the right path for our first steps towards other planets as its weak gravity will allow us to assemble larger shops there and send them off with much less fuel needed.

IF

If we get the gumption to establish a colony & base there, The Perry Rhodan novels notwithstanding, we have had more failures ,disasters, delays, cancellations, and other problems getting rockets to go up. A single cloud in the sky - delay ! And any colony and/or base will have to be self-maintaining.

In the horror story "ORDER OF THE BLACK DOG" set 20 years in the future, ruins with Lovecraftian ideographs are found on the moon and an indescribable idol ,intensely horrific, anatomically insane.  A portal on earth is also found dislocating people to the moon ! But the moon is still inhabited by anatomically insane monsters. At least one copied the appearance of a researcher to trick them, and do some destruction. Language is bit rough in places.

I started to give a detailed review, but I'll point you to Immelmann.

I have no doubts there will be delays but I think the only thing that could be a major blow towards any space program is human casualties.

it is obvious that the base would have to be self-maintaining but I don't thibnnk that any of this is a big concern. The biggest problem nowadays is the fact that we have to put all those components on a ship and fire it up from Earth's powerful gravity - we just don't have any ship/rocket big enough to do this. In vase of Apollo 11 mission the entire ship with thee crew and all the equipment was ~1% of the mass - and that was only for the Moon. However, SpaceX reusable rocket technology shines some optimism on the matter.

Start-up will be the big concern. Food, supplies, oxygen -until the colony does become self-maintaining.

Three conspiracy theories as to why we stopped sending astronauts to the moon after three missions.

(1) we never went to the moon. In fact, Roger Grissom's widow even claimed that her husband and 2 others were MURDERED in that launch-pad "accident" to silence them as they planned to spill the beans on what really went on.

(2) We were warned off - by THEM ! Aliens had prior claim to the moon, and had their own bases there. We carefully erased any evidence in recordings, etc., as to what went on, on that last trip.

(3) We are STILL going to the moon and have established a base, manned by derelicts and other "wastes of space" yanked off the streets. These are always listed as "missing". They are slave laborers up there, and when they die -from overwork or whatever- their bodies are just thrown out to the lunar plains.

I have a book THE BIG LITTLE BOOK ON CONSPIRACIES, which discusses them all the way from assassination and such, to the startling premise that mankind's very existence was caused by a conspiracy ! Fort alleged that when the Harvest comes, pray that we sleep through it ...

KingsOfEvilArt In reply to EmmetEarwax [2018-08-09 08:22:42 +0000 UTC]

I think the base will be self-sufficient from the start, the oxygen generated from locally present chemical components and food frown in the form of algae (It's already being researched and the results are promising)

The so-called Moon hoax conspiracy has been throughout debunked. Your book must either be old or incredibly biased if it lists this one as a possible concpiracy. As far as the moon conspiracies go, my favorite is the one that Nazis along with ADOLF HITLER still being alive today have escaped to the Moon after loosing WWII in their secretly developed spaceship. It's hilarious.

To perfect a moon base, it was necessary to build said base on earth itself, to exclude air/food intake and waste out-take -from an Arizona simulation,I think. The object was to exclude any need for outside connections. Last I heard a runaway greenhouse effect was giving researchers fits and they had to give up. Book you said was "old" was pub. in 1995.

Another theory was that the astronauts performed masonic rituals, incl. sending the "Eagle"(or Phoenix) lander sunward (as the marriage between moon and sun).

Oh, not complete words!
Some runes remind me of delta, psi, and gamma, but I always thought greek letters to be very rune-like so it's not that surprising!

In fact, it was your work with Balrog that helped inspire my own use of color. I was always very much satisfied with my black and white style and honestly, I still like it. But it showed me how much more potential lies in those pictures. So I am extremely happy to get your approval here. Next will be Venus.

Whoa! This is badass as hell, man! Really awesome - fantastic work on the colors and shadows - very atmospheric and perfect for the setting. My favorite part, though, has to be those alien runes - they're absolutely out of this world! [no pun intended] I can see in my mind a swarm of these creatures soaring over the martian horizon like locusts turning the sky black as they descend upon the glass domes of an earthling-inhabited martian colony. It also makes me wonder what if there had been advanced civilizations once living on Mars who had their own Martian version of hell and these were the demons that called that Martian hell home.  What if the alien civilization had accidentally opened a portal to this hell and unleashed these demons, who then proceeded to take over and destroy everything and are the only creatures left on the planet?

Interesting idea. i didn't imagine them as swarming creatures but your concept has a lot of charm to it.

Huh, everything about the KOR space program is amazing. The pinkish mist emerging from the creature's facial orifices makes for a haunting visual.
Also, I understand that for now your only doing celestial bodies, but have you considered depicting the ships used by the programs astronauts? I may be misinterpreting the project's title, but I would love to see some bio-tech ship-monsters from you.
