In short "KORSP". Almost like "Corpse" tee hee hee.As you know I have been planning to "go into space" with my art by creating a series of creatures inspired by the objects of Solar System and perhaps beyond. If I feel like it I might even resurrect my old Zodiac series and go with other constellations as well...
The creatures will have no uniform style, they can be influenced by astronomical, occult characteristics of the planet, by planet's symbol and simply by my personal thoughts of a particular object. In this case, the main ideas were ever-present crescent shapes as well as asymmetrical lighting subtly referring to the moon phases where it's only partially illuminated.Β This is a double milestone, first serious experiments with a background as well as a 1500th piece of art.Β Big, big thanks for for background tutorial and patience.

This is a fine and elegant fiend, a good heraldic monster to represent the Moon...
He has a bit of Night-Gaunt ancestry, I think!

Did I ever mention how this reminds me of the aliens in Pitch Black -No? Well anyway, I want to see more and now I'm thinking that because you did the background now you're challenged to color in the creature along with adding texture to its skin. Right now I wished I had those horns so I can run up to the supermarket and gore people stocking shelves in the cereal isle.

Yeah, I see a lot of people see the similarity to Pitch Black creatures, interestingly enough, I have drawn the first 2010 or so version of the monster without seeing Pitch Black. I think both PB and myself were inspired by aliens of Wayne BarloweΒ waynebarlowe.files.wordpress.cβ¦ waynebarlowe.files.wordpress.cβ¦ waynebarlowe.files.wordpress.cβ¦ which are among the fewΒ trurlyΒ alien looking life form depictions.Β

Pitch Black is the only movie that I like Vin Diesel in and even still, that has more to with the story than him 
I was saying that now that you are stepping into adding more depth in your work, it would be nice to see you continue on with this specifically on the creature. I would like to see how that would come about. When I tried to color your work, the most difficult thing for me was going over the lines and striations and such. I am not a professional digital artist and it was a challenge to do but being that they came from your hand, who knows perhaps it would be something more. Right now, I'm learning colors, depths, shadowing and stuff so I can't wait to see what I would end up doing next.Β

Very interesting project!!! I am interested in a similar subject long ago. I hope you will reach in this creative travel to the very Yuggoth and maybe further. I think it was more Gamera 3esque... and I meant in the smaller thumbnail. Up close it was clearly something else. Like we were in front of Gyaso with the hed pent down.
