The lizard people; they are a frequent sight in modern fantasy I am not sure though if they have any base in myth or folklore.Strangely enough, from what I know they are not particularly associated with Dragons. In my dream, however, the case was appropriately different.
the Lizardmen worshipped Dragons, in sort of dark-BuddhistΒ style, believing they can be reincarnated as them if they follow the rules of the cult. The taste of this power was the gift of Dracanthropy, which was exactly what it sounds. xP

Ah, it seems indeed that lizardmen as modern folk know them are either rare or entirely absent from any readily available myths and legends of old. Serpentmen (and -women) on the other hand exist in vast quantities in many cultures around the world, but you know this already.
In my desperate search to find an old folkloric lizardman, no matter how dubious the source, I returned to Maori mythology, because I remembered that their chaos-god Whiro is associated with lizards, and for some reason I always pictured him as something like a lizardman. Turns out that was all just my own imagination, but he is said to take the form of a lizard, and lizards are his servants, often serving as heralds of curses and ill omens. Due to their terrifying power however, lizards can also be used as guardians, scaring away enemies and guarding the dead.

I've seen lots of lizardmen in fantasy art, but they usually bore me in one way or another. Somehow your simple but extra-realistic take on one, looking perfectly and uncannily like a normal lizard in an erect posture like a man, is just so refreshing. I love that blank "I might just eat you" face.
As an amateur teratologist, I have never heard of lizardmen in any cultural lore, but you've now inspired me to try to find some.
