Description
the basic design wasn't alteraed almost at all. It's just executed better."There was an almost globular torso, with six long, sinuous limbs terminating in crab-like claws. From the upper end a subsidiary globe bulged forward bubble-like; its triangle of three staring, fishy eyes, its foot-long and evidently flexible proboscis, and a distended lateral system analogous to gills, suggesting that it was a head. Most of the body was covered with what at first appeared to be fur, but which on closer examination proved to be a dense growth of dark, slender tentacles or sucking filaments, each tipped with a mouth suggesting the head of an asp. On the head and below the proboscis the tentacles tended to be longer and thicker, and marked with spiral stripesβsuggesting the traditional serpent-locks of Medusa. To say that such a thing could have an expression seems paradoxical; yet Jones felt that that triangle of bulging fish-eyes and that obliquely poised proboscis all bespoke a blend of hate, greed, and sheer cruelty incomprehensible to mankind because mixed with other emotions not of the world or this solar system."
H.P. Lovecraft & Hazel Heald, The Horror In the Museum

My favorite part about this beast is the mass of what at first appeared to be fur. Badass as always!

I don't get hate, all I can see in that head is curiosity.

I miss the huge, goggle-like eyes of the original version you drew, but this one has a much greater sense of weight and size, and I LOVE how dense and thick and writhing you made its "fur" look. To be smothered by that mass would be terrifying, and to be touched alone would send chills down your spine.
As cliched as this story was, I felt it was a very fun thriller, with an unforgettable creature. I love how (SPOILERS) we don't even see it while it is active, except for its claw. The rest of the story, we only ever see it in its inert state.

BY the way I am really happy you mentioned the tentacle-fur. I've actually been envisioning how disgusting must have eit's touch been while drawing it.. It feels cool that some of those emotions have been effectively put into the artwork.

Indeed. Thankfully you have the imagination to really get a feel for these kind of things, not to mention drawing skills which become more and more mastered and vivid with each drawing you make!

Β To be honest I picture his eyes as asymetric so perhaps from the other side the eye would indeed look bigger and more like the one inprevious versions (note that they are facing in opposite directions on those two drawings)

the beard are actually small sucker-like tentacles that he uses to drain blood and bodily fluids out of it's victms.
