This is Irma, she's my violin.This is a photograph of her oddly enough.
I wanted to capture the soul of this beautiful musical instrument, as I like it a lot more when it's not making a sound like a cat being garotted. As you can see it is made of wood, strings and a slice of holey cheese. It's covered in resin-dust from when I was playing it. I like to play with Irma as she makes the same sound that resonates inside my tormented soul.
Yes, I got very bored and had nothing better to submit, but I wanted to succumb like the rest of the world and fall madly in love with a piece of wood.
I am a genius. Just like everybody else who picks up an instrument.

I think the lighting was perfect for this. It looks like an oil painting. I didn't name my viola, but if I did, I think I'd go with...Andrew.

I named it after Irma Prunesquallor from beloved Gormenghast because she's the same shape, plus Alfred plays violin hehe.

I took it without a flash because I didn't want to have a huge glare on the wood, but it did turn out a little darker and duller than I had hoped.

I would, but I try to stay away from changing photographs too much from the original, I might have a go though to see if it enhances it.
