OKEY LET ME EXPLAIN!!!
I have 3 different "finishes" for my commissions: Simple, Messy, Clean
Simple finish means a cleaned-up sketch, depending on the character I'll have to clean it more than usual because of details and whatnot- they also have very low opacity base colors and faint blush for a nice detail but no shading! This style was born because 1) I needed a replacement for the sketchy busts I used to do 2) I wanted to help a friend with her pet bunny and wanted to offer something fast and simple to make money of!! So this style was born as a simple and quick alternative for commissions when I need extra cash /o/
Messy finish means mostly the same in terms of lines, they are cleaned-up sketches but they are done on a slightly bigger canvas thus they can have more detail and cleaner lines (but it's still a cleaned-up sketch). This ones have a more finished coloring, with one shading layer for each color and simple gradients so it looks nicer. This was a style I started using early this year due to the fact I wasn't able to do proper lineart, I was struggling so much with it but I still wanted to color my stuff--
Example of a messy bust at the start of this year (and a messy fullbody):
Clean finish means: clean lineart, made on top of the sketch (no matter how much I cleaned it lol) in a new layer, this lets me create more detailed strands of hair, clothes, better anatomy, etc. The coloring is also cleaner and more detailed, I use several layers of shading, overlay, and gradients for a better result. I also take a longer time doing details like patterns, ruffles, lace, anything the design has so it's literally more clean.
Hope this cleared up your questions!! Sorry it was so long and maybe you didn't even want an explanation but I've always wanted to explain it soI took the opportunity lmaoooooo
