When I first started doing the bridge, I had the golden gate bridge in mind, but the ref I ended up using wasn't the golden gate bridge... it just looked like it, so haha XD

THIS IS REALLY PRETTY, KIP!! ;___; I particularly love the clouds and sky. And the composition is very nice, all the space above the character makes the world seem really vast

Hahha, yeah. Originally it was going to be on lined paper and the lines would fade as the sky went upwards, but then uh... I dunno, changed my mind, and the line on the side got left there.

The picture was originally about childhood, kind of embracing life and everything, so the bird just seemed appropriate. but then I kind of started to listening to the Landslide song more... and I think the bird makes a lot more sense if you're heard the song
the entire song is about moving on and changing, and understanding love and happiness and everything.
pretty much, the bird represents change and moving on in a positive light. everything around her is very dull [though it is a sunrise, regardless] because it kind of reflects the line "i've been afraid of changing cause i've built my life around you" and the background is kind of the life she built. there was a reason I chose to represent a bridge in the background, a city sort of setting, because it's very mechanical and structured. it doesn't represent life itself, living, breathing things
while, a bird does. a bird is a very simple way to represent all of that, and especially change. that's why the bird is brighter than everything around it. it's not really supposed to be subtle. everything in the picture is supposed to be subtle - the dull colours, the halo, the wings, the city in the background. but the bird isn't. the bird is supposed to kind of throw you off, make you wonder why the fuck it's there, supposed to stand out from everything else in the picture and be completely obvious.
change is always obvious. and it is always beautiful.
