The image signifies the divide placed between them by Elrond requiring Aragorn to attain the kingship of both Arnor and Gondor before they can marry. Tolkien's description of the scene is so haunting. The whole story of their love is beautiful but heartbreaking when Arwen realizes Aragorn is indeed going to die. Thanks for taking the time to comment!

I can see how the nebula in the background might look like that. Earendil is definitely a more benevolent force in Tolkien's world.

I really enjoy this scene and how Tolkien's history comes full circle, repeating itself, almost at their meeting when Aragorn greets her as Tinuviel. Very well done!
