Description
This was one of my first oil paintings. The idea was probably beyond my experience level, but I think there should be more in the world about Orome, especially when he's exterminating the creatures of Morgoth which "hunt in the dark with many eyes."Related content

I know what position Orome occupies in the mythology of Arda, but still I think a rolled newspaper was all he needed !Β :}

No doubt. I've often thought that the horse could do the exterminating itself, but your comment completely nails the situation. Nicely done!

Very interesting style you have. On the one hand youΒ΄re very good with composition and light and you know your materials well.Your textures look incredibly good and your design of things is quite unique. On the other hand in some places proportions are a bit off, which I think is a thing of pure practice for years and years. With this I think, if you do the same for the next five-ten years, your art will be close to perfect. YouΒ΄ve got everything it takes to draw the most beautiful of pictures so please keep doing this, I like your work so much
I also love your vision of tolkiens world, the rocks that almost look like plants, alive as well. These drawings are full with live, theyΒ΄re beautiful

Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. I love painting rocks. I think they meant as much to be as they did to Tolkien. And you're right, I've definitely got some work to do to improve. Take care.

fantastic! he looks really strong and scary on his glowing horse (and this could explain, why the elves had been afraid of him, too).

You know The Silmarillion well. Orome would be quite a sight as he hunted down those horrible monsters. Thanks for posting!

Ah, my beloved Vala That's a little pity that I can't see his whole beauty: face (eyes), hair, expression - I am curious how you imagine him in human body, knowing your talent and visions I imagine that would be amazing
But he's fantastic here of course! He and Nahar.
Bema is magnificent here, real warrior, guardian of Arda, grand hunter if it's going about evil creatures. And good spirit, brave and just that one who left wonderful Middle-earth as last - how much he must loved it! How much he must cared.
Nahar looks awesome, I am speechless rather Like rider, like horse - as same brave, powerful and full of anger for enemy as his friend-lord Bema.
Enemy should feel a great fear!Β
And indeed, such could be and look like the great ancestor of Rohan's horses
Very good colours: dark for evil and lightful for wonderful Nahar. And golden-like for kingly Orome Beautiful and artful spear. Orome here reminds me of Eomer a bit. There is some similarity or bonds between this Vala and people of Rohan - and I don't mean only their belief in him.
Awful spider, brr - that's a compliment of course. I have arachnophobia so if I am still here it surely means that work is great
Best wishes my dear artist

Thanks again, for your wonderful comments! It is always a cool thing to read that Orome kept going to Beleriand to protect the peoples there from the monsters of Morgoth. I, too, have a spider phobia, and it kind of sickens me to paint them, but Tolkien included them in all of his major works, so I had to use one here. Since you love Orome so much, I wanted to tell you I'm working on another painting in which he finds the elves at Cuivienen. The design is done, but it will be a few months before I can get it into paint.Β
Thanks again for taking the time to post!

Tolkien himself had a bit of thing about spiders (one bit him when he was a small child); that's probably how they ended up as some of his most memorable baddies!

I think I read about that story. Wasn't it in South Africa? Anyway, when they say they are more scared of us than we are of them...well, I don't know.... Thank you for taking the time to post!

Indeed, all his great, the greatest among the Valar, anger for them makes an impression. Oh, I admire your heart for drawing them then Even in imagination spiders can be scary and I can think that it could be uncomfortable feeling drawing such creature for a longer time. I admire your big passion and respect for Professor
"Since you love Orome so much" - yes, yes, the only Vala with I am fond of
"I wanted to tell you I'm working on another painting in which he finds the elves at Cuivienen." - You made my day more happier Β
I will be waiting patiently What a joy, what a joy! Hah
Thank you for information
And for sharing with it.
Lots of inspiration! Β

That is really fun to hear of your love for Orome. What an interesting character he is; "a mighty Lord," as Tolkien describes him. Since you are so interested in him, I'll do a more polished graphite version of the design I have come up with and post it for you, so you can see the design. It might be a couple weeks, though, since I have some projects to complete first. Cheers!

Yes, mighty And respectful for mother nature, so kind for other good beings (It would be truly great to see your painted scene!). Oh, did I tell that you're truly kind for me? Yeah.
And cheers to you
