Description
Gojo Satoru x ReaderYour face perks up as you notice someone standing in front of your food stall. It's the middle of a weekday when business is slow so you weren't expecting anyone to approach today while zoning out. Now, you put on your brightest, most welcoming smile as you greet your potential customer. "Hello! How can I help you today?"
The customer chuckles at your overzealous greeting. Your grin fades away. From the laughter alone, you could already tell who it is. "Wow, what a warm welcome, [Name]. It must be my lucky day that I get such kindness on one of my visits."
You let your guard down, heaving a heavy sigh as you lean forward against the counter. You eye the customer with disdain. "I swear, Gojo, every time you're in the area is always too soon from the previous time." With that, you begin making Gojo's usual order while he takes a seat.
"I must be your favorite customer, though." Gojo sneers at you while he watches you work. "I always bring great business with how much I buy whenever I'm here. And you always seem to remember me. Perhaps my charm has you completely smitten so you just count the seconds until my next visit?"
You scoff in the middle of your task. "The only reason I remember you is because you're always so obnoxious & cocky, Gojo. I keep you in mind so I can remind myself to never ever EVER say yes to you asking me out on a date." You smirk to yourself.
"How do you know I'll ask you out?" Gojo peers at you over the top of his sunglasses, giving you a peek of his brilliant blue eyes. "I'm wounded you think I have a motive every time I'm here."
"Because you kind of do have a motive every time you're here." You package Gojo's order and slide it in front of him, still playfully sneering at him across the counter. "You come here in the same sunglasses and sweatshirt and slacks that you know you look hot in–"
"So you think I look good when I visit?" He raises an eyebrow at you.
Your cheeks puff out and they blush a bright pink. "Now I didn't say that."
"Oh, [Name], but I think you just did."
"Whatever!" You exclaim loudly. Some bystanders looked over at the spectacle, so you clear your throat and sheepishly keep your eyes towards Gojo while slightly lowering your voice. "The point is: you always come here when you're here for work, whatever it is you do, and you ask me out each time. And the answer's, once again, no." You reach out and flick your finger up to push his glasses back up his nose bridge. "See you next time, Gojo." You wink at him and go to clean your station.
Gojo's every nerve is on edge at your playful interaction. He feels like this every time he visits you. He first met you when he wanted to bring back souvenirs after an assignment against a special-grade. He found your little food stall, was immediately attracted to you, and was even more impressed by how much he enjoyed your food. He asked you out right after you put together his order, to which you swiftly declined. But Gojo never gave up. Every time he had a curse assignment near your stall, he made sure to see you and order and ask you out on a date. You always said no. But he knew he couldn't give up. He's never been so interested in another person like this before. In the jujutsu world, everyone only liked him because he was labeled as the strongest sorcerer. You didn't know who he was at all and didn't treat him like a celebrity. Plus, he thought you were dropdead gorgeous.
"One day, I swear I'm going to take you out on a date, [Name]." Gojo states confidently. You raise an eyebrow at him, setting your rag down. "I swear it. I like you too much to give up."
You chuckle at his straightforward declaration and continue cleaning. "And I swear every time I see those white bangs, those sunglasses, and that outfit, I'm going to be ready to reject you again."
"But what if I come dressed differently next time? Will you say yes?" He challenges.
You snort. "You think changing your look a little bit will change my mind? Nice try. I'll know it's you. That smug attitude is hard to miss."
Gojo puts his hands up in playful defeat before grabbing his order. He places his payment on the counter with his usual generous tip and gets to his feet. "Alright, alright. I hear you, [Name]. I'll go home for today." It was now his turn to wink at you, causing you to subtly blush again.
"I'll see you next time, Gojo." You smile at each other before your customer walks off in the distance.
You work for a couple more hours, not really getting that many customers the rest of the day. While organizing the cash box, you sigh at the low amount of funds in the compartments. You start worrying about the money you need to keep the stall running while paying your rent. You pack up all your belongings and start your walk back home alone, the fretful thoughts bouncing around your head.
While doing your best to plan out solutions in your head, you hear an unsettling growl behind you. You whip your head around to see what could be making such an ungodly sound. However, there is nothing to be seen. You scan the area behind you a bit longer to make sure before turning back to keep walking.
Once faced forward, your eyes are met with several pairs of terrifying eyes. In front of you is the most horrid creature you had ever seen in your life. It breathed heavily and growls reverberated throughout its disgusting body. It had all eyes on you as it bared its snaggly teeth. "...f-f-forgot my umbrella..." You heard it mutter in a scary voice. You thought it was a very odd thing for such a monster to say, but you have bigger things to worry about in front of you at the moment. You do your best to let out a scream for help. You couldn't seem to get the smallest peep out. Your body is stiff with terror.
While you're frozen in place, the creature wraps its long gangly fingers around your body until you're tight in its grasp. "...Um-um-um-umbrella..." It mutters again as you get a close-up of the insides of its mouth. The smell is putrid as it pulls you closer past its teeth.
A small thud is heard from above you right before a voice. "Ah, so this is where you've been hiding. For such an unsightly curse, you sure know how to hide your energy."
Suddenly, the creature pulls you out of its mouth and directs its eyes towards the figure that has landed on its head. You also look up to see who would be so daring to even touch this monster on purpose. A very tall, slender man is crouched on the monster's head. He's dressed in all black. He had a matching blindfold covering his eyes, yet you could somehow tell he was looking between you and your captor. He had silky white hair, much like your regular travelling customer, but his is sticking straight up. This stranger is sneering down at the creature, like this is light work for him.
One of the monster's hands releases its hold on you while it grips you tightly in the other. It then uses that free hand to swipe at the stranger at his head. The man leaps away at just the last second he would have been crushed. He lands not too far away, that same grin on his face. He chortles to himself as he stands tall, his hands in his pockets. "Much too slow, my friend." He taunts.
The monster takes this opportunity to attempt its escape. With you still in its grasp, the being starts crawling to scale the nearest building. It scurries at breakneck speed and tries going as high as it can away from the stranger. You turn your head slightly to see how high you're going, but feel yourself about to hurl when you realize what height you're at.
"I said you're too slow and you still think you can outrun me? You're hilarious."
In the blink of an eye, the stranger appears running along the side of the building alongside you. Before the monster could react, the man pushes himself off the surface to give a swift roundhouse kick right in the middle of the creature's face. The force causes its grip to release you as it hurls back down towards the ground. You find yourself in the open air before gravity starts dragging you down. Suddenly, your fall is stopped by a pair of arms scooping you up bridal-style. The stranger thay caught you at this great height dashingly smiles down at you in his hold. You can't help but stare up at him, a warmth seeping towards your cheekbones.
"Hold on tight." He then directs his attention to his target below that crashes into the pavement. After he warns you and you instinctively wrap your arms around his neck, you feel an increase of speed in your descent in this stranger's arms.
Almost gracefully, your hero lands right on the monster's head, forcing it deeper into the ground. Keeping smooth motion, he pushes off the creature to leap back into the air and land near a bench. He gingerly sets you down, giving you a quick smile. Your faces are so close to each other and you can feel your heart pounding in your chest. He then turns his attention back towards the injured beast.
This stranger did an odd formation with his hands. Immediately after, a glowing aura surrounds him. You can even feel its force reach you. He directs all that energy towards the monster until the creature starts to dissipate in thin air. Once it's completely out of sight, your savior stretches his arms into the air like he just finished a light workout. He didn't even have a single scratch or scuff on him.
"Ugh, this assignment was way too easy. But everyone else is too busy so I guess I was the only one available. Whatever. It's done. Now I can do some more souvenir shopping." The man mumbles to himself.
As you observe him for a moment while fiddling your fingers, you clear your throat. "Um...excuse me..."
Your hero reaches a hand back to rub the area between his neck and his shoulder. He glances at you over his shoulder. "Ah, yes. My dear friend here." The fact that his eyes are hidden from you makes you even more flustered.
You stand up straight, your eyes wavering while they struggle to stay on this man. "Th-Thank you. You saved my life." You feel your cheeks burning a deep red so you bow your head low. "I can't thank you enough, sir!"
"Sir?" The man tilts his head to the side in confusion.
"Agh, s-sorry, that was probably too formal, even from a complete stranger!" You stand back up and laugh uneasily.
"It's not a problem." He flashes an amused smile at you before turning to give you his full focus. You're now aware of how much he towers over you. "Glad I made it in time to save you. I'm pretty surprised that you could see that thing, though."
"I...used to be able to see crazy stuff like that. When I was a lot younger. But they weren't that terrifying or hideous or big. They were small and kind of cute. It's been such a long time since I've seen something like it."
"Ah, you must have seen low-grade curses. You've supressed your energy and now it's come back. I knew there was something different about you. You're amazing."
"I'm sorry? I didn't quite catch that."
"Nothing."
"Oh!" You remember what you really want to say and take a step closer to this man. "You've gotta let me thank you somehow. I insist. I run a little food stall just around the block if you want a free lunch or–"
"Go on a date with me."
"Huh?!" You look up with a completely flabberghasted expression to face his look of pleasure. His answer was so blunt and quick that it caught you off-guard. "A-A date? We don't even know each other!"
The stranger nods. "I just think you're incredibly attractive and would love to take you out." He shrugs. "Unless, of course, you think I'm too charming."
His words flip a switch in your brain. You now find yourself squinting at your new acquaintance, scrutinizing him. You're not very sure what you're looking for in him, but a voice in your head is telling you that's there's something you're supposed to spot.
"Is something wrong?" He calmly asks with a grin.
You blink a couple times and shake the feeling off. "No, sorry...You just...remind me of someone I know."
"Really? They must be pretty great then." He chortles.
You smile to yourself. "He's incredibly annoying. He loves teasing me. And he's so cocky." You shift your eyes down to your hands fumbling together at your stomach. "And he always tips me too much. He always makes sure to visit me unexpectedly. He's funny. He's sweet. He dresses really well. He never fails to show or tell me how much he cares about me."
Unbeknownst to you, your hero was watching you with a big smile. "Sounds like you really like the guy."
"Maybe I do, I don't know. But I'd never let him know that. I think I'm...too scared to lose such a great guy, you know? Or I'm scared he'll hurt me one day. I know I should give him a chance and I should just take the leap and say yes, but..." There is silence between the two of you after you say this. You break it by laughing sheepishly. "Awkward. Just dumped that on a stranger who's asking me out. I hope that doesn't scare you away. Anyways, I think it'd be better for me to go out with someone who's not Gojo to get my mind off him."
The stranger observes you for a moment longer before speaking up. "Sounds good. I'll pick you up tomorrow at 8pm." With that, he pivots on his heel and starts walking away.
"W-Wait!" You call after him. "I didn't catch your name!"
Without turning around, he simply waves his hand in the air. "I'll tell it to you when I pick you up for our date."
You watch him fade off in the distance with furrowed eyebrows. It was such an odd thing to say. But you did extend the offer to him to show your thanks. So you just shrug your shoulders and head home for the night.

The following day, you close the stall early so you can change clothes and make yourself look a tad more presentable. As you anxiously wait beside the stall, you meticulously tug at your hair to make sure it looks neat enough. Then, you look at your face in the front camera of your phone before checking the time.
Right as the numbers change to "8:00," you hear footsteps approaching. You look up with your best smile, hoping you don't look too perky.
"Hey, hey, hey! [Name]!"
Your smile fades as Gojo leisurely strolls up to you. You sigh and roll your eyes. "I closed early today, Gojo. You don't get to tease me today."
"Oh, now I don't know about that, [Name]." He lifts his sunglasses up for a second to shoot you a wink.
"What the hell are you going on about?"
He smirks widely down at you. "Why, I'm here for our date."
"What? You know the answer's still no, Gojo. Now go home. I'm waiting for someone."
"But, [Name]." Gojo closes the distance between you and extends and arm out to plant his hand against one of the sides of your stall. He leans teasingly close to you. "I'm here for our date."
You gawk up at him. "What are you–..."
"Now, now. Don't tell me you forgot about the date we set last night. I thought you wanted to show me how much you wanted to thank me. Perhaps I was wrong?"
Your eyes widen immensely, more than they every have before. "Y-You...No...That was not..."
"Such a shame. And here I thought you liked how I often dropped by unexpectedly. But I was surprised when you didn't recognize me last night. You said you could always spot me."
A vein throbs on your head as you try to keep your cool in such a frustrating situation. "I can't believe this. So that guy who saved me last night...that was you?"
"Yup." He replies smugly.
"And you're some...superhero with crazy powers or something?"
"I'll explain that later, but essentially yes."
"What was with the outfit?"
"That's my work uniform."
"You wear a blindfold?"
"Only when I'm working. These baby blues are usually for you, sweetheart."
"...And you...heard all that sappy stuff I said about you?" Your face drowns in crimson as you avert your eyes shyly.
"Oh, you mean the part where you listed all the stuff you love about me or the part where you confessed you have feelings that you're too scared to share with me? Either way, no I didn't hear anything." He stuffs his hands in his pockets, looking down at you with a mischievous smile.
You sigh heavily and hang your head for a minute. Without you saying a single word, Gojo knows he's won you over. He knows you better than you realize because he's shown such great interest in your for awhile now. He knows when he's charmed you, otherwise he would have backed off with no further pursuit. He takes time to admire how adorable you are with such a stubborn expression. Then, he gestures you to take a walk by his side. "Shall we go on our date now, [Name]?" He gives a dashing smile.
You eye Gojo and smile to yourself. You push yourself off the side of your stall and begin walking. Gojo strolls beside you, your steps soon falling into sync with his. The two of you don't exchange words for awhile during your walk. However, Gojo reaches his slender fingers out to brush against your hand. You welcome the contact, without looking at him. Your hands naturally clasp onto each other, like two puzzle pieces finally finding its space.
"By the way, if you ever pull some crap like that again to trick me, I'll make sure to poison one of the sweets you buy next time you visit the stall." You say to him with a sweet smile.
He gives your hand a light squeeze, undisturbed by your threat. "I'll just...make sure to change clothes next time I do that so you don't recognize me." You can't help but laugh at his rebuttle, leaning close to nudge him with your shoulder. Afterwards, you don't move away too much and he decides not to say anything about the close proximity. Both of you simply smile at each other for a moment before you start your evening that you've both been waiting for since the moment you met each other.
