Description
This is the first of three art pieces I did for my Horror film class at SVA, taught by Roy Frumkes. For our visual project to present on the day of the final class, we had to do up to three fully-rendered pieces of characters and scenarios related to the movies we saw. This first one is of course of Dr. Victor Frankenstein's monster. My concept of doing three characters Christopher Lee portrayed led me to choose him, Dracula and Imhotep. However, this clearly is based more on the Boris Karlov Frankenstein Monster, which most people are familiar with. I rolled with the concept of his body being constructed from various parts of human corpses, so I did this whole "patchwork" thing for him and tried to mix and match various textures I had collected or photographed from different places. I think this is the weakest of the three as far as the art goes, but it was definitely the funnest to experiment with.

I like the patchwork idea; I think it fits with how the monster is always portrayed really well. This project overall is really well done; marrying different styles to different characters worked great and gave each of them their own distinctive voice. Nicely done!

Close up, it looks like it was made with lots of construction paper and a lot of transparent tape.
I think he's even taped to the background.

I like that you referred to him as "The monster" instead of Frankenstein. I hate when people make that mistake!
