Quick little fanart I did for the Earthbound/Mother series. This was mostly an inking experiment, plus I love drawin' the four kids from Mother 2 so much. I think the lineart and inking turned out pretty good, even the background's not to bad. The coloring and inking looks like ass to me. Blargh. Ah well. Hope you guys enjoy it.Related content

No, usually I sketch and ink the pictures out first, scan them in and color/shade in photoshop.

I see you're taking what I told you to heart, it's looking way better!
The saturation could use some flipping though. The characters are kinda desaturated, especially their shadows, but the background is eyebleedingly saturated red. My eyes go straight to the red and... hurt afterwards lol. You should tone down the saturation on the red, and tone up the saturation on the characters. Try shading with colors instead of just with a value drop (aka adding black)

Yeah the flow of the characters into one another immediately made me remember what you said.
I DID use actual colors for this one, but sadly the way I use the brush tool just makes it look like value drops, or burn&dodge which is what I've been doing for like, forever. I dunno, MAYBE cel-shading would've worked better for the cartoony style lookin' back. I'll be sure to play around with the saturation a bit too.

Awesome- it seems you and my friend have gotten into Mother at the same time. 
Oh yeah, the pic. I like the colors and how it all looks; well done, but that purple line/squiggle in the background looks strange to me. But that's just me. xD;;

The inking looks so, well...JUICY in this pic. I was thinking you might want to experiment with varying the lengths of your lines just to see how you would cater to judging things like distance. For example, lines closer to the viewer would be thick and vice versa.
I love the colors in the drawing, you definitely depicted the "trippy" aspect of Earthbound well.
