Description              Really, what did that conniving harpy think I was? Her personal little page boy? “Oh Hermes, won’t you be a dear and do me this slight little favour?” I mimicked her lilting voice and pulled a face. Oh, slight was the understatement of the century. I’d rather be holding up the world with Atlas than running petty little errands for Hera. I scowled, just this morning she had asked me to look up on Zeus for her. She acted as if I was dense enough to not understand what looking up on really meant. Like her tone and saucy little compliments weren’t enough forewarning for what I had just unwisely agreed to do. It was obvious to everyone, in Olympus and on Earth, that Hera was madly jealous of her husband’s new “companion”, used in the most open terms of course. I didn’t even know who this other girl was, Io or something, probably another mortal *sigh* Zeus had a soft spot for them. Now that I think about it though, Zeus does get around a fair bit. Hell, Zeus had even cheated on Hera with my mother. Come to think of it that’s probably the reason why Hera never treats me too kindly. I guess it could be understandable, why Hera his own wife for Gaia’s sake, was kind of annoyed with his promiscuous behaviour. Be that as it may, that did not mean I should be the one sent to babysit him. I was much too important for that, why at this moment I should be ferrying souls down to Hades, in the underworld. As a matter of fact Hera had stopped me mid-shift. Boy, would she get a good telling off from Hades. He could be particularly testy around this time of year, what with Persephone being gone to see her mother, it being winter and all, and with everyone getting sick and dying. This means, in the long run, more work for him. Those mortals, such fragile things; come and gone in a single sigh. But, apparently, they catch Zeus’ attention, quiet a lot these days. Why my own mother was a nymph, my father a god, and look at me, simply a-m-a-z-i-n-g.

Now really I don’t usually agree to do favours, but I convinced Hera into the way of an exchange. An arrow from the quiver of Eros, and I would do my little check up on Zeus. I definitely came out the winner, on this bargain. She had even given me my “reward” beforehand. Hmm... Oh what mischief I can do with that little arrow! I knew that it affected humans, but what would happen if a god got struck by one? I could give my good friend Apollo a nasty little surprise; make him fall madly in love with a cow, or a fish.... I’ll have enough time to enjoy my prize later; I should probably be focusing on the task at hand. Hera had already imprisoned Io, Zeus’ latest little “incident” and was having her guarded by the hundred eyed giant, Argus. For some ridiculous reason she wants me to check in and make sure Zeus hasn’t been visiting with her knowing. Oh, I bet Hera just picked me because I’m the fastest, smartest, cleverest and just overall best out of the rest of Zeus’ children. I mean who else could you trust with a job like this? Apollo, pretty boy that he is would probably get distracted by the slightest thing, like a flower or something, and then he would have to stop and write a poem or song about it or some such silly thing. Well that makes me feel a little better about this whole goose chase. The cave where Io is being held is finally coming into view. Oh, well now! Argus is an ugly brute, better switch to some stealth tactics from here on out.

It IS kind of shorttt
and
you're describing the actions as though he's telling a story to himself, about himself, from his point of view...

But I like it.
