As a kid, I remember going to my grandfather Emilio's house to watch some movies. One of them was Casper, a 1995 film based on the famous Harveytoons character from the comic and cartoon. When I first saw it, I was surprised to see that two of the human characters, Carrigan and Dr. Harvey, died in a family film. Looking back at it, it has some flaws, but I found it to be an enjoyable film to watch, especially around Halloween.
Ever since I rewatched it on my trip to Indianapolis this spring break, I always liked to imagine: what if Kat became a ghost like Casper? Well, here am I with this What If concept come to life... or in this case, death.
It was an ordinary day at Whipstaff Manor when Kat was busy with a science experiment for school. She had grown accustomed to her new life in Friendship, Maine, even though she still gets trouble from Amber. While she was busy with her project, the Lazarus goes haywire, resulting in an explosion that engulfed the young girl. Through the smoke and ashes, Casper and Dr. Harvey try to look for Kat when they came across a scared, young ghost. She had brown hair, green eyes, and wore light blue shirt. She almost looked human. Upon further inspection, however, they came to a horrifying conclusion: this ghost was Kat Harvey. With the Lazarus in need of repair, they and the Ghostly Trio will have to find a way to bring her back as a human.
Left: Where Human Kat is snarky and moody, Ghost Kat is shy and soft-spoken. She is as friendly as Casper, even though she can be a bit scared of anything, especially humans.
Top: The Ghostly Trio decide to take her in to train her through Scaring 101. Needless to say, her efforts come off as more silly than scary.
Bottom: As a ghost, she has feelings for Casper, yet is too nervous to admit them to him. So, she makes a first move by offering flowers to him. Casper is unsure about this. On one hand, she's a ghost like him, but on the other, she was the doc's daughter.
Right: Dr. Harvey was the most distraught. Not only had he remembered his short time as a ghost, but now his daughter was dead. He tries to convince Kat to remember anything, though it won't be easy. But he won't give up easily, for he's going to find a way to save her.
Now, this is only a What If? Concept and not part of canon. I'm just imagining what it would be like if it happens.
