very skill full I'd try a England look [link]
maybe? the top of your build would look great to the design of the image upper level

Well, it depends on what you want. Do you have any art idea or direction for this?

This building reminds me kinda of the Austrian Alpen houses.

Yeah something a bit medieval-ish. that's what i always had in mind when i was making this but when I came to the textureing part i just dunno which way to go. sure i can stone thats gotta be wood and thats stone but the way to show is a bit argh if you know what I mean =/ next to that I dont know if it should be photo textures or handpainted (the latter i totally suck in lol)

I agree with some sort of masonry for the bottom half of the wall (i suggest brick), then stucco for the top with wood for the things that cross across it
perhaps wooden shingles for the roof?

Kirinov In reply to JasonXL [2011-03-14 17:12:01 +0000 UTC]

I tried large stones at the bottom which looked ok-ish and wood for the crossbeams etc but the walls for the upper floors i dunno =/

JasonXL In reply to Kirinov [2011-03-14 23:15:27 +0000 UTC]

try smaller stones (or, again, brick). and for the upper floors, again, try stucco, or some form of it
here's a reference to what i think: [link]

Ah stucco! In my mind I call it plaster yeah i tried that but i dunno... might be that i didnt find the proper images for that yet and all. Normally I take a neutral texture and add like dirt or damages later on to make it look more random and I did try that with this but i just had a weird feeling looking at it... maybe i need to give it another crack again...

ya i couldnt remember what a better word for it was. but ya it can be hard finding good material images. i cant wait to see the finished product

it looks really nice, I find 3d modeling really difficult.

Hehe thanks ^_^
I suck at 2d art so I guess were even specially with this piece I suck at the texturing part...

Hmm how about some stone blocks for the main wall texture, wooden for the collumn support things LOL, and shingles for the roof, maybe dark brown? The windows could be gold glassed, and the window frames can be wooden like the collumns. BUT thats just the first to pop in my mind~

NICE work! You should take model commisions; I would totally request quite a few meshes. Also, you use Maya? Lucky!

your suggestion does seem to fit what i have in mind too, except for the gold glass lol... i'm thinking plain old glass
havnt done any architectural stuff like this tho lol

looking forward to seeing it finished!

And thank you ^_^ Model commisions O_o? what do you have in mind ( don't say character cause those I consider evul)
