Description For Warchick Challenge: Life

It would of been in SOO much earlier but the background kicked me more then Heroism did. But oh well, shes done. :3 I chose my druid Kireea (aka Kirita after her sever change, she had some lore and appeance changes, including the blue tatoos and markings). For those who knew her before hand she did have a baby. o.< I was stumpt on what to do for life but what represents life more then a new born....And what screams protecting life and nature more then night elf druids... xD

You do very nice work, but it hard to see all the details in it. I think your work would stand out much more and all the details you spend so much time on would be able to be seen if you included some kind of line work. It doesn't have to be black lines, but a darker color than the color you are outlining would look very nice.

Alternatively you can do some darker shadows and stronger highlights in places to make the details stand out. For example, the high ponytail would stand out and show off the detail more if there were some darker shadows in it that can act as a kind of outline for the head (if that makes sense). In my art class, my teacher always told us to make shadows darker than you think they should be, because that will look correct that way. Since you work digitally, you can do the shadows on a separate layer (as long as the program you use has a layers function), and make them as dark or light as necessary without having to worry about affecting the rest of your work.

What brush do you use? pastel?

Kirita-Windwalker In reply to ReconCookies [2011-09-01 06:44:53 +0000 UTC]

I use a oil brush to lay down the flats, highlights, and shadows then I use a air brush at 40-60% opic. to shade it in. And by Pastel I meant the color.. xD Mainly that sea foam green that is kinda freaky. x.x

Ohh I see ^^ Oil Brush looks so ummm oily, 3d, and awesome ^.^ But I have bad memories of Oil Brush cuz I failed miserably with it once :/ Thats why I only use airbrush for pretty much everything which is something that I should change... Hmmmm...

I like to do the bases with different textures but the shading ever ooks right enless you use the airbrush, atleast the way I do it. And the different textures just make a different look.

Kirita-Windwalker In reply to ReconCookies [2011-09-02 04:12:46 +0000 UTC]

Ya but I just a round brush to do the strands, the oil brush strands give it a wet look and im usually not needing that.. xD
