Our latest find or as AndyMumford calls it another image for our "drunken ship driving in Greece series"
This the cargo ship Semiramis washed out at the shores of Andros island after being abandoned at sea after a mechanical failure during a storm. I am still looking into more details about it will update once I do find.
Anyway, a bitch of a capture cause I wanted a really long exposure for the clouds to form lines towards the center but the wind was ferocious and the sea spray was getting the filter spotted after each wave crush. I acted as a human shield as much as I could and fortunately the result was usable
A colour version or two will follow shortly, stay tuned

definitely amazing, positively breathtaking. How many years have you been taking photos? I'm starting up...and i was just wondering how to you get so much depth and soul into a photo? Is it the right time right moment thing..or you just got to have an eye for it?

Thank you very much. I have been into photography for quite some time but started taking the whole thing a bit more seriously five years ago.
Timing is about everything and you need to train your eye as well. All can be learned and practiced with patience

Why are there so many abandoned ships in Greece?
I once drove along the cost and there suddenly were like 30 ships.
Sounds like you put a lot effort into this picture and it really pays off!

Could you please tell me in which road you were

ouch! the impossibility to find the place shows me once again that my computer, files and mind are a total mess.
This was the first ship

The others were not drowned that much. Some of them where off the coast a little.
I think it was some kind of
I think it is on the coast road between chalkidiki (that 3 finger island) and the Turkish border. Yeah, very precise. I'm asking my travel mates because I go insane when I cannot remember where I took my pictures.
So for now I can only say: drive from Redina to Istanbul trying to stay as close to the sea as possible.
You will at least have a great view.
Wait, am I telling YOU that you would have a great view? lol. forget the last sentence
Yes, I know you don't have the time to drive along a random road of your coast, neither do I. But we both want to, right?

This road where the ship of your photo is taken is located near Athens at the shipyard zone of Elefsina.

It is only natural to find ships there in various states.
I have that ship photographed as well

I was curious all the time, because my pic was between corinth and athens in my gallery but not sure if I uploaded them in the order I took them.
Thanks for the info.

you define this "usable"?????? I wonder what you'd consider a "good" result, then! Striking image, the b/w takes the best out of the textures in the rocks and in the ship wreck and the atmosphere is dramatic. I love the lines in the sky. The water looks like a thick fog and the ship looks like a Flying Dutchman.

Well the quality of the image was an issue cause I couldn't tell from the LCD how bad it could be. Fortunately my defensive measures against water spay worked
