There were many reasons all the girls fangirled like iditots over the boys of VOCALOID. They were very attractive, fun, outgoing and you couldn’t forget famous. VOCALOID started at your school as a club but grew larger than hour long hangouts after school. It was just earlier this school year that the club was discovered by talent agents and the more talented students were hitting the media as famous stars.

Now whenever you turned on the TV you’d see their faces or hear their names. On the radio their music would play and when you walk down the streets you’d easily spot the fans. At first you thought it was kind of cool you went to school with famous stars but lately it started to just drive you insane.

Matters were even worst considering your best friend Lena indulged in the nonsense as well. She loved to go on about her favorite guys of VOCALOID and would even talk about how perfect some of the female members were. You really could never catch a break.

“Hey, ____! Are you listening to me?” Lena hissed in your ear. You were ignoring her for a reason but she clearly didn’t understand that.

“I don’t know are you done talking about Kaito whatever his name is?” You ask as nonchalantly as you could. Lena groaned and threw up her hands as she slammed some preppy teen magazine down on your desk.

“Kaito Shion! I mean seriously I don’t understand why you have to be so adamant about VOCALOID. He’s cool, really cool. And he’s hot, really hot.” Lena went on with a wink sent your way.

“So? The world isn’t just about looks. I’ll admit he’s very attractive but he’s also loud, obnoxious, dumb, egotistic, a-“ Lena cuts you off by clamping both of her hands over your mouth.

“______, seriously? What if Kaito comes to school today? He could hear you! Even if he doesn’t his fan club can be kind of extreme.”

“Which is exactly another reason not to like him. Who’s so full of themselves to the point of having a fan club?” You argue while throwing your hands up.

“One, I’m pretty sure he didn’t just make his own fan club, his fans did it. Two, I think it’s kind of cute. I mean, can you imagine dating him? He has all these admirers yet he chose you! That’s gotta make you feel special.” Lena cooed. You wince and shake your head.

Before you can continue your petty argument half the class flocks instantly to the door frame. You don’t even have to see who it is to know. “Kaito Shion.” You mutter bitterly under your breath as Lena stands up to eye the hunky bluenette.

This always happened. Whenever someone famous from VOCALOID came to school literally everyone flocked them, teachers included. You weren’t the only VOCALOID resenter though and you eye a few of your classmates who obviously hated Kaito just as much as you did with appreciation. You just wished Lena would understand why you disliked him so much.

“Everyone settle down! Class has started.” Your younger teacher Mori Sensei said sternly. Students grumbled though as they slowly shuffled to their seats.

“Ah c’mon guys, we are here to learn after all.” Kaito freaking Shion humbly said as he took his seat right in front of you. You curse him in your head that he blocked your sight of the board but you were at least glad the teacher was going to actually teach.

As everyone took their seat the teacher clapped her hands happily and stepped up behind the podium. “Great, we can ask Kaito about VOCALOID’s trip now that the class is quiet.”

You groan as everyone squeals in delight and starts to shout out questions. And this would be exactly why you really did not like VOCAOID, especially Kaito Shion.

By the time lunch came around next to nothing productive actually occurred. The class never stopped the questions as Kaito explained the tour with everyone and how their newest music video shooting was going great. Lena ditched you to go join the girls and boys flocking after Kaito which left you completely alone.

You had high hopes that when class resumed after lunch the teacher would make everyone get to work but just like always you were wrong. You buried yourself in your book throughout the rest of the day as you counted down the seconds before you could go home.

As the final bell rang, signaling the end of the day you quickly shove everything into your schoolbag. You walk as quickly as you can towards the door but the teacher calls out your name to stop you.

“_______, did you forget? You have cleaning duty today!” Sensei told you. You smile as pleasantly as you could and nod.

“Wow, I almost did forget, thank you.” Your teacher grins as if she truly saved the day. You turn to head towards the utility closet in the hallway when your teacher says something that makes you stop frozen in your tracks.

“Kaito are you sure you have time to do cleaning duties? I’m sure ____ could handle it on her own! Or you have plenty of classmates who would be eager to help you out. You must be so busy with your career.” You turn around slowly and sure enough the prideful teenage star is standing a few feet behind you.

“Oh no, it’s only fair that I help out.” Kaito insisted. His dark blue eyes meet your own and he smiles brilliantly. You knew better than to give into his flirtatious antics and don’t even bother smiling back. “What are we cleaning?”

“Oh yes, you two will be cleaning the PE storage room out back.” The teacher added. She waved us off and turned to help someone with an English problem.

You look back at over Kaito who was still grinning foolishly. He looked to be about to say something when a group of girls run up to him and cling to him. “You really have to clean?” One of them whined as she pouted attractively.

“Yes! I can’t just leave her to do it alone.” It chilled you to be talked about by him, even if you were standing just in front of him.

“You heard Sensei! She said ______ could handle it on her own! Let’s go out and play. You can handle it on your own ________, right?” You grip your backpack tighter as you stare at your rude classmate. Misa was usually pretty nice to you and you couldn’t believe she’d be so desperate to get a guy’s attention to the point of putting you down.

“Sorry guys that’s wouldn’t be fair. Now we should probably get started. I’ll see you later!” Kaito pulled away from them and stepped forward to stand beside you. You freeze up as you feel his large soft hand press against your lower back to turn you towards the hall. As soon as you two stepped into the hallway you jerk away and speed walk up to the utility closet.

“Sorry ______ that was unnecessary. They shouldn’t have been so rude to you.” Kaito apologized for them.

“They really shouldn’t have.” You muttered as you reach in and pull out a broom and mop and pass it over to Kaito. It’s silent for a few minutes as you grab everything you’ll need as you replay what just happened in your head again and again. “Wait, you know my name?” You ask without thinking. You blush slightly over the fact you actually just asked that. You look over your shoulder at Kaito and are surprised to see him staring at you confused.

The expression on Kaito’s face looked so foreign and strange that your stomach does awkward flips. “Of course I know your name, why wouldn’t I?” He looked genuinely hurt that you didn’t think he’d know your name and you felt kind of bad.

“I don’t know, you’re so . . .” You trail off in thought as you try to think of the right words. “You’re so popular and famous and I’m just nothing. I didn’t think you’d care to remember my name.” You didn’t mean to be so honest but it was too late to take back your words. You couldn’t stand to look Kaito in the face so you look down as you try to regain your bearings.

When you looked up Kaito looked angry and you were afraid it was because of what you said. “Sorry, never mind.” You push past Kaito and start walking towards the storage room outside. Kaito was hot on your heels so you picked up the speed even faster.

It wasn’t until you were outside of the small shed that Kaito finally said something. “You don’t need to apologize, you’re right.” He said suddenly. You look at him surprised and blush as you drop the keys. You bend down to pick them up.

“What do you mean?” You ask offended. You couldn’t believe he’d agree with the fact he was so popular and famous while you were nothing.

“Wait, that isn’t what I meant!” Kaito exclaimed turning bright red. “I mean you obviously don’t like me you and your right too. Everyone treats me differently just because I’m a part of VOCALOID.”

“Don’t you like that?” You focused your attention on organizing the balls.

“No, not really. I helped create VOCALOID because I love music and I love singing. I love the way my music can help others but I hate that people are so obsessed with me to the point they hurt others.” Kaito confessed. You glance over at him surprised that the egotistic flamboyant selfish teen you thought you knew was actually much deeper than that. It seemed as if Kaito was just full of surprises at the moment.

“Your music is beautiful, so is your voice.” You finally admit. Lena had been nagging you for months to just admit VOCALOID, Kaito especially, was actually good and it felt good to say it out loud. Kaito looked up at you and smiled sweetly.

“Thank you. I’m actually really happy to hear that. I’ve actually been thinking of quitting VOCALOID.” You drop the volleyball you were holding and turn to stare at Kaito who looked at your surprised. “You okay?”

“You can’t just quit VOCALOID! Why would you? Isn’t it your dream? Don’t you love doing what you do?” You knew you were supposed to be cheering at the idea of Kaito quitting VOCALOID but truthfully that was the last thing you wanted.

“It takes up so much time though. I’m still a student I need to focus on my studies and that’s hard to do while working. Even when I do make it to school everyone’s more interested in me than learning and I don’t like that.” Kaito admitted. You bend down and pick up the volleyball and put it in the appropriate box.

“Then tell them that. Tell them you don’t like it! Don’t quit VOCALOID, you’ll just regret it.” You finished cleaning up that part of the storage room and you move next to Kaito to help him with his.

“I feel bad though.” You look over at him and gasp in surprise when you realize how close you were. Kaito smiled coyly and raised his blue eyebrows. “You have beautiful eyes.” He pointed out. You felt your cheeks blaze red and you shake your head.

“Don’t go changing the subject!” You exclaim angrily. “Everyone idolizes you. They admire you, they want to be you. Not just the Kaito Shion they see on TV but actually you. They’re not going to suddenly hate you because you actually came to school to learn. Just tell them the truth. What’s the worst that could happen? You lose a few fans?”

Beside you Kaito laughs. “How is it that I’ve never gotten to talk to you before? I thought you were just some shy girl who really hated me.” The blush returned.

“Well I don’t hate you as much anymore!” You exclaim embarrassed. Kaito gasped and you look over and your eyes meet Kaito’s.

“Wait, I was right? You hated me?” Kaito exclaimed feigning anger. You tried to think of something to say but you were too embarrassed to think of anything that would actually make sense. “I’m kidding, relax! It’s okay. I mean I can tell you don’t hate me anymore. In fact you kind of like me.”

If you thought you were red before now you were literally on fire. “What? I don’t like you.” You manage to spit out. Kaito edged closer and rolled his eyes.

“Whatever you say _______!” Before you even knew what was happening you felt Kaito’s full soft lips press against yours. You gasp into his mouth as he pulled away and winked.

“Wait- What- That? Kiss?” You sputtered out embarrassed. Kaito laughed and stood up.

“I told you, you liked me.”

“I don’t-“ Kaito cuts you off by taking the broom out of your hand.

“It’s okay because I just might like you too.”
