Description
Stood in firelight, sweltering. Bloodstain on chest like map of violent new continent. Felt cleansed. Felt dark planet turn under my feet and knew what cats know that makes them scream like babies in night. Looked at sky through smoke heavy with human fat and God was not there. The cold, suffocating dark goes on forever and we are alone. Live our lives, lacking anything better to do. Devise reason later. Born from oblivion; bear children, hell-bound as ourselves, go into oblivion. There is nothing else. Existence is random. Has no pattern save what we imagine after staring at it for too long. No meaning save what we choose to impose. This rudderless world is not shaped by vague metaphysical forces. It is not God who kills the children. Not fate that butchers them or destiny that feeds them to the dogs. Itβs us. Only us. Streets stank of fire. The void breathed hard on my heart, turning it's illusions to ice, shattering them. Was reborn then, free to scrawl own design on this morally blank world. Was Rorschach. Does that answer your questions, Doctor?-Rorschach

That was always My favorite moment in the book. It's the turning point when You realise Rorschach isn't actually insane. Up until that point I regarded Him the same way one does a fictional serial killer. Gives insight into workings of Human mind, perhaps entertaining, ultimately reprehensible in actions. When the chapter following Rorschach's arrest came into play, You start to sympathise with Him a bit as You see the life He's endured, but that one moment was key. It showed You He understood. He understood His own actions were meaningless, He understood it was a hopeless battle, He understood that life was without value or purpose. Even so, He never compromised. It's that one part of Rorschach's character, that deep insight into the Lovecraftian Universe around Us and still doing what is right in spite of it all, that makes Him truly great.

Alan Moore wrote the story, dave gibbons drew the characters and the colorist was John higgins.

i like everything but the right arm sleeve and the pants. what i really love is the orange dots coming from the fire in the windows-i dont know why but it adds a whole new feeling to the picture-i love it! you should do more stuff like that background imagery.
