Description
This is how I make my pokeballs for my cosplayMine aren't 100% accurate, bu since I'm not very good at painting I can be proud of myself...
And I used styrofoam balls to do this. Maybe I didn't wrote this but it is the base of a pokeball....
I don't know what more to say, if you have any questions I will try to awnser the best I can
EDIT: Wow thanks for all those views! i'm happy to see that my tutorial is useful
And those are examples of what you might get when you are finished! (those pokeballs aren't mine, they belong to their respective owners):

Actually, I do not use heal balls in the pokemon games (honestly, I found them to be quite useless), but since it looks very pretty (and has lovely colors), I've decided to make one.

I personally loved the Luxury Ball. I mean, who doesn't like black?

You are welcome! I've seen your pokΓ©balls in your gallery, and they look very nice. Would you mind if I added them to the description of the tutorial?

It's a styrofoam ball
You can easily find them at dollar stores or craft stores for a cheap price, generally uner 1$.

they look nicer when u paint tennis balls. just some thought

That is very plausible since I haven't tried tennis balls yet. Plus I was in a rush when I first made these so I didn't took the time to put a lot of modpodge coats ^^"

you should try them sometime then! sadly they dont bounce.
another thing i like doing is getting the large plastic bouncy balls and painting those as giant pokeballs with acrylic paint. they r still bouncy!(USE TAPE TO MAKE THE EDGES NICE!)

Yes, I'll try to use that sometime if I do another pokemon cosplay. I've been getting this suggestion several times, so I guess that it works quite well!
Ilike the idea of using bouncy balls too.

You just use the plastic pot that contains the yogurt. If I remember well, I used it either to use it as a stand for the pokeballs (it would have the same use as the egg box) or to pour modpodge in it.
I'm sorry if I did not answer your question clearly, it has been more than a year since I made this tutorial so I don't remember well ^^''

Frankly speaking, I don't really know what you could use instead... maybe some white acrylic paint or white glue could work?
Use something that will make your styrofoam balls look smoother. Also you must be able to paint on it afterwards

grilledcheese64 [2011-08-09 18:36:18 +0000 UTC]
so if i dont have sandpaper i can just add more hodge podge to?
π: 0 β©: 1
Kisshu-Neko In reply to grilledcheese64 [2011-08-10 02:34:38 +0000 UTC]
You can add more coats of modpodge so it will be smoother, but I don't know how many. I did not have the chance to try it...
I only did 3 oats because I needed them to be finished quickly for a picnic event. I suggest that you add as much as you need to obtain the perfect smoothness
Also, sandpaper is quite cheap. I think that you can buy it at a dollar store, if not there will surely have some in a local craf store

yeah but since i'm low on money i'm just going to use a golf ball but have to find a way to make it smothe and paintable.
π: 0 β©: 1
Kisshu-Neko In reply to PrincessMoonSerenity [2011-07-30 00:43:12 +0000 UTC]
Maybe you could try to smooth it with sandpaper? I've never tried myself, but if your golf balls are made in some kind of plastic it should work.
Oh and also, styrofoam balls are very cheap. I've bought mine for less than 2$ or something like that.

Hello! I'm just curious, why do we need to get animals out of the room?
π: 0 β©: 1
Kisshu-Neko In reply to officanz [2011-04-16 13:21:57 +0000 UTC]
Because sometimes animals can make some of your pokeballs fall on the ground and play with them or try to chew them, which isn't good because there is a risk that the paint you are using is toxic. It's alsotry not to have any animal hair from your pokeball.
I guess that if your animals aren't as hyperactive as mine you can let them go in the room.
