Janja: Who are you?
Shenzi: I am Shenzi thats Banzai, and this is Ed.
Janja: Good to meet you all.
Banzai: Hey thanks.
Janja: I thought you guys were dead.
Banzai: That's what they all thought too. We were in really bad shape after the fire almost caught us, but we survived. We laid low for a while and started getting plans for our revenge. I knew we wanted to kill Simba so we decided to work for her until she died.
Janja: Okay so have you heard about the new Lion Guard? Shenzi: No we haven't. What's the Lion Guard? Janja: The old Lion Guard protected the so called Circle of Life and they were the most powerful team of lions in the Pride Lands until Scar destroyed them. Banzai: Is that true? Janja: Yes and if Kion's new Lion Guard wins the trust of the Pride Lands, we Outlanders will be next to impossible for us to take whatever animals we want for food. Shenzi: Well then what are we going to do? Janja: We'll strike now and before the Lion Guard's ready, we'll take down all the animals we can. Banzai: Hmm I like the sound of that. Ed: Hoo he ha ha ha ha ha ha.

I like the theory that Shenzi is the mother of Janja and Cheezi, which Banzai is Janja's father and Cheezi's uncle, while Ed is Cheezi's father and Janja's uncle. Jasiri was niece of Shenzi, but she and most hyenas respect the Circle of Life.

My favorite is that Shenzi and Banzai are mates and the parents of Jasiri and Janja. Ed is Shenzi's brother, and that's why he's still alive, as normally such a foolish male would have been killed.

Honestly, i consider janja and his crew to be a bunch of omegas who were kicked out of their pack. And since they no longer have anyone to pull rank at them, they think they're the baddest hyenas arounds

Designers say he's a pup. If that's true then there's the entire hyena clan made of puppies, probably abandoned by the real hyenas... If that's true, Simba's an ass.

How you know Janja was smaller than Shenzi, Banzai, and Ed?

Because Janja is roughly the same size as Kion, who is a cub. Cub Simba was by far smaller than the adult hyenas Shenzi, Banzai, and Ed.

We really need true confirmation in the show on this one. Personally, and this is all headcannon, but I like to think that Janja and his clan are just an off-shoot of Shenzi's clan, but that Shenzi, Banzai, and Ed are all siblings and that Janja's parents just abandoned him after the fire. The trio tried to raise Janja, Chungu, Cheezi, and Jasiri, but Janja became stubborn and rebellious and decided to go off on his own. Jasiri was taught about the Circle of Life by the trio in the hopes that the next generation wouldn't make the same mistakes as the last.
But I also headcannon Banzai post-TLK2 as a war vet who is sick and tired of shedding innocent blood and just wants the fighting to stop, and Scar's spirit is some sort of devil-esque figure, haunting his dreams and trying to make him kill again to keep the chaos going. The reason why Scar would choose Banzai is because Ed is too stupid and there's no fun in manipulating him, when as Shenzi is too smart and her willpower over the years has gotten to the point where she can block him out.
But, that's just my thoughts. Sorry for the long headcannon tangent.

i believe that the hyena's in the lion guard were left behind after scar was defeated as they were runts and not seen as important enough to take with them ^^

I expected that Shenzi and Banzai are parents of Janja and Chungu, while she and Ed(or for long as either Edris or Edume) are parents of Cheezi. I made that theory. Not only that, Shenzi was Jasiri's aunt.
