I always headcanoned that Shenzi was Ed's older sister, and the only reason he hadn't been killed yet.

I think Janja is a teenager andΒ so are his bunch of hyenas as well as Jasiri (who has been officially said to be a hyena cub). I mean, an early teenager, early enough to not be full-grown. And I also headcanon Kion as being older than cub Simba in TLK1.
All TLG hyenas = More developed/closer to adulthood than Kion
Kion and all TLG hyenas = none are adults yet

I thought so too. I always thought that , in human terms, Simba in the first movie was 8-10 years old, the Guard are all between 11-14, and Janja and friends would be late teens.

I think those hyenas are cooler, sure i dont think i had much thoughts on them back in the day(cant remember) but they seem more menacing and even more 3 dimensional than the new guy

I assume that everyone in Lion Guard is pre-teen or just teen. Who leaves young cubs by them self to rule a land for a few days? Besides Kion has a starting mane, and cub hyenas couldn't run a pack.

Janja's not much smaller than average. Β You need to remember that all of the adult characters had their sizes condensed. Β Add that to the fact that Kion is quite a bit older than Simba was during his Pride Land adventures, and it's no surprise he and Janja are the same size.

I like to think of Janja and the other two as Banzai and Shenzi's kids. Or maybe the children of all three :3 cuz the one with the buggy eyes looks kinda like Ed lol

I think they're suppose to be teens. Male teen hyenas get kicked out of their clans by the matriarch, so maybe that's why he's the leader of his band of hyenas, and they're all males. And while Kiara is definitely bigger next to her dad than she was in SP, not to mention her maturity's grown too, Kion is her little brother. Seeing as Kion has to fight off the hyenas, I don't think he'd be able to handle them as easily if Janja and the gang were full grown like Shenzi and them were.

I love how Janja's such a big dork when he tries to brag about himself in front of Kion and fooling him (Kion) to think he'd cause any real trouble but actually he ends up running away meekly xDD
I just wish we could see him more often interacting with Jasiri (even if they hate each other xD) or at least, to find out if he might have a conversation with the Hyena trio
