okay first of ALL my bud, I said people who leave any comment against LGBT pride. People can disagree with it, whatever, it happens-but I don't want to see that on my gallery, because my gallery is an LGBT+ safe place. Being anti LGBT IS homophobic.Β

I'm not saying people who disagree with me are homophobic. I'm saying people AGAINST gay people ARE homophobic. That is LITERALLY the definition of the word!Β
i do not respect homophobes. I do respect the fact that people have different opinions, but if somebody is literally against somebody being allowed to live the way they were born without it effecting anybody elses lives whatsoever because of it, I most certainly do not respect them.Β

Look I'm sorry but no matter what you believe is the correct way of thinking, I will never EVER respect somebody for being publicly against gay people. Never.Β

We'll have to disagree on that!Β

I never said that. I have mentioned religion 0 times this whole conversation!Β

All I'm saying is, no matter who anybody is, if they do not agree with people being gay/bi/trans etc, I do NOT respect that opinion and never will. I know plenty of religious people who are pro LGBT.Β
Being PUBLICLY against gay people IS treating people differently! If people disagree with gay rights but keep it to themselves, I think its a shame but will not argue with that.Β

Sorry but that's how it is! My opinion will never change on that!Β

no, it's not.

LGBT+ people are not obliged to respect views and people that indirectly/directly harm them. That's like asking a black person or an asian to befriend a racist that believes they shouldn't get married, or adopt kids. it's the same concept.

LGBT+ people fight for rights they haven't had until recently (at least in first world countries) and to find acceptance when people like -you- or the people you are disgustingly defending, are so against us and our happiness and being true to ourselves. no matter how you spin that, your view is harmful and wrong and no one has to accept or tolerate -that-.Β

good day, and may you open your eyes someday and see all the bad things this does to people.Β

Kitchiki In reply to Nexhpo [2017-07-14 13:54:42 +0000 UTC]

well, no because wanting equal gay rights means pushing for everybody to be accepting of all sexualities. But if people are AGAINST gay people then that's not being accepting of all people, is it? Being against people due to their sexuality is nowhere NEAR equality, its a step backwards, and so no I do not respect that opinion as it is the complete opposite of pushing for equal rights. Β

The difference between the two opinions being publicly displayed is that one is HATE speech. It is actively AGAINST people.

The gay rights movement is not against a certain group of people, it is a call for them to be seen as equals to people who are not LGBT, people to be able to love who they want to love without anybody preaching hate about it! If the movement was specifically about targeting straight people and demonizing them, then yes it would definitely be a very bad thing and would be on par with being anti gay.Β

You just cannot compare the two, they're so different! They're not opposites!Β Β

It's clear neither of us are going to agree with each other and have shared our opinions, and I'd rather not have this conversation take up the comments section for a picture that's supposed to be positive and happy, so I'll end the conversation here!Β

you seem to genuinely be confused about what LGBT pride means, and that's okay! As long as you keep an open mind c:Β

LGBT+, 'Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender + more' is a community that has faced a lot of grief in the past as it is not 'the norm'. People who are not straight, or born into what they feel is the wrong body still struggle with accepting themselves and often face bullying when growing up, being thrown out by parents, discriminated against for things they simply cannot control! And even face acts of terrorism, such as the terrible Pulse nightclub tragedy last year!Β

Pride is the movement, and event to support these people, help them know they're not alone and simply celebrate being who you are without hating yourself! It's also a celebration to how far we've come since it was literally illegal to be gay, bi, etcΒ
June is Pride month (which often spills into July) where Pride parades/festivals take place all over the world-and originates from the Stonewall riot in America, a violent protest that sparked many of the LGBT movements that have pushed for gay rights all around the world!Β

If you want to know anything else you may note me and I'll help explain!

Well, I've heard this and that about it. But what better way to understand than to hear from someone's point of view? I don't want things to be one-sided, as there are two sides to each story.

Ah yeah...I know that.
It's really difficult, isn't it? I don't know how it comes that people feel they are born "inside the wrong body", but to bully them for that is just cruel. I've been bullied a lot myself (for different reasons, granted ), and I can't stand it if someone gets bullied.

Yeah, I will note you! Thanks for the option!

That's a lot of sexuals, don't you think?
Why not heterosexuals?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

StuteriRose In reply to Truth-lover3712 [2017-07-10 13:06:38 +0000 UTC]

Not if you think of it more as a floating scale instead of categories. Categories quickly become confusing and annoying. I find it easier to think of it as a line and in one end there is heterosexual and in the other homosexual. You can be anything in between and in the middle there is pansexual (you love a human, and gender doe snot matter at all because you don't view the human as a gender).Β

Because they are the norm and we live in a heteronormative society that thinks it is normal to be heterosexual and abnormal to be anything else. People do not react if a girl gets a boyfriend because that is how we expect it to be. But if she gets a girlfriend, people become unsure, start to ask questions such as "How will you get children" or "But how doesΒ the sex work" even if those questions are really silly when you think about it as all lesbian couples out there can have children and can have sex. However, we should not look down on heterosexuals. I don't know why being hetero is suddenly so bad in the pride community. I am not that involved in it, but I see stuff on the Internet just like everybody else.Β

I myself is a pansexual. I like a personality and the gender does not really matter to me. The same way I do not identify myself by my gender, so I like to call myself genderfluid. Genders are to me just a label you put on people too easily sort them into different categories. Girl - pink, ponies, makeup. Boy - blue, football, computer games. These are just stereotypes and just as bad to use as an instrument to judge a person as the stereotypes; Black - criminal, White - racist, Muslim - terrorist, Blond - stupid. You get my drift?Β

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Truth-lover3712 In reply to StuteriRose [2017-07-10 13:25:24 +0000 UTC]

Well, human itself is not a gender, as far as I know xD

Do you mind if I ask on in this one?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

StuteriRose In reply to Truth-lover3712 [2017-07-10 13:35:55 +0000 UTC]

No, and that'sΒ my point. I don't care for genders at all. I see humans, personalities, dreams, hopes, skills, and attitudes. If there is a female or male that has those traits, I don't care. If it is a male that dresses like a woman or a woman dressing like a man, I don't care. If they have once changed gender, I don't care. They are the same human being despite what they have between the legs.

Sure.
