Oil painting commission for my neighbours. It's going to be a gift to their Gran for Christmas. They loved it, I hope she does too!Please fullview, the photo isn't great but especially not at this size.
A3, oil on board.

This is absolutely gorgeous. The snow and the feathery fur on their chests is just incredible.

Thanks Sash! I seem to have a natural ability with snow, I was dreading it and it turned out pretty good. Backgrounds are not my forte - I am close to insisting that all future commissions will be snow scenes as I am currently struggling with some yellow flowers. The cat looks good so far but ohmygod the flowers.
It also helps that the dog was a Springer Spaniel which are my favourites. My dog was one so I am quite practised at painting them...when I win the lottery and am living in my country house I will have another!

Thanks Kichai! Yeah, the snow was a relief as I managed to get it right pretty quickly which gave me the rest of the time to work on the dogs. The spaniel particularly took a long time to get right! Which was the last thing I was expecting as having had a Springer for 14 years I'm quite good at drawing them!

Thanks Ata! I thought the snow would be so difficult to do and was dreading it but it came together really easily...easily in comparison to the rest of the painting that is. I didn't like it until two days before I finished it when it started working. Really wasn't satisfied with the dogs likenesses and colours but now I'm really happy with it. A proof that perseverance and patience pays off
