Here's an improved version of my Revolution!-verse map set in the current year, nearly 20 years after the century long Cold War ended. Consider the old Revolution! maps to be out of date and officially retconned.-------0------
The Post-Cold War world is one of uncertainty as ethnic/political terrorism and a global warming scare during the mid-2000's lead to an increased adoption of nuclear fusion as the process of building said power plants became easier for the nations that didn't have any prior to their acquisition in the 1990's. A few British-led NGOs have since stabilised the global climate system, but with a few problems, the monsoon season in India and other parts of the Far East have been extended, leading to more flooding in vulnerable areas. Regions such as the Sahel and the Australian deserts have been host to a high amount of rainfall, not to the point of outright habitability, but closer to a semi-arid savannah.
The Middle East is one of the designated 'Danger Zones' in the world. Even with the secular governments of Iran, Israel-Palestine and Egypt being a powerful force in the region, the Islamic Republic of Arabia continues to make vague threats about nuking their neighbours after a violent revolution back in 1980 kicked out the royal family who sought refuge in France. The East Indies (the name stuck due to a lack of a unified state in the region) was the playground of Empires not too long ago, but the efforts of rebels and home rule movements won at their shot for independence from France, the UK and the Dutch in the 1990's. These new nations are dealing with either violent Islamic extremists or local separatists.
Europe is one of the more prosperous areas of the world, but is no means safe from ethnic terrorism. The Basque separatist group known as the ETA (Euskadi Ta Askatasuna or Basque Country and Freedom) rose to prominence in the mid-1990's and still continues to harass both Spanish locals and tourists alike by bombing airports and other important buildings in both Madrid and Bilbao. While the situation is under control in Europe, these groups have been known to be rather persistent and never seem to go away after a major command center is destroyed. At least there hasn't been an event on the same scale as 9/11 as of yet... But the assassination attempt on the Spanish and French monarchs has given rise to a more militaristic Europe as old Cold War tactics have been renewed for a possible War on Terror.
Germany has come a long way since the end of the Red government back in 1983. The old Empire has been restored to its former glory and is one of the most advanced nations on Earth with regards to military technology, after all, 100 years of German industrial might have produced a lot of fancy gadgets that are only rivaled by the Japanese and Californians. Instead of a refugee crisis and a seemingly incompetent government, the Kaiser and his associates have to deal with the remnants of the Red Army, now styling themselves as the Red Army Faction.
The RAF uses tactics similar to the ETA and OTL IRA (which didn't exist ITTL due to a more amicable relationship between the Brits and the Irish), which is mostly bomb threats, the odd assassination and a few weapons smuggling runs to other Communalist loving organisations. The European branch is a shadow of its former self, some members are thinking of raising a white flag to the Imperial government. The African chapter, being made up of former Gaddafi supporters and sympathetic Germans is more powerful however and operates on a highly decentralised survivalist structure. They're often hard to track in their bases in the Sahel and Southern Greater Libya (a geographic region compromising of all former Italian lands. (Tunisia, Tripolitania and the Lybian Republic)).
The old adage of 'Britannia rules the waves' has still held on, even while the United Kingdom is no longer top dog in terms of territory, it still holds a huge amount of influence on the global stage, around the same level of the United States in OTL. The UK is host to the largest military in the world, with an extremely powerful navy to boot, along with a big nuclear arsenal that they con lob at almost every nation on Earth should the need arise for it. A plethora of overseas territories give the UK a nigh-uncontested amount of clout in global trade as British companies trade with their American and European counterparts.
France and the rest of continental Europe have also fared through many dark parts of history. The French monarchy survived the Revolution and eventually became the leading light for then-despised liberal ideals. After the Revolutions of 1848 swept away the old order of reactionaries, the monarchies of Europe eventually relented and gave their populaces their much desired rights. Austria-Hungary reformed itself during this period and eventually gave full voting rights to the population in the 1890's. Further reforms were implemented by Chancellor Hitler (a better upbringing and the lack of a Nazi Party led him down a different political path) during the Great Depression to sooth a resurgent insurrection by the Hungarians. As a result of these changes, Europe and most of the wider world is more leftier and tolerant than OTL, but considerable right wing groups do exist for conservatives of the more 'normal' manner.
The Americas are home to a variety of nations, Tsardoms-in-exile, Republics and various federations that have been created due to the strife of the Red Rebellions and various other revolutions that came before them. The Tsars of Russia have made their home in the frozen north, buying land from Canadian and British companies and expanding into the unclaimed north during the 1830's. Quebec is the industrial giant of the Americas, being host to various aerospace companies after the automotive industry suffered a huge flop a couple of decades back. California was a former ally of the Red German government, but fell to a democratic election in 1991, Cali is home to a booming film industry while the United States of America is the tech giant of the continent, Silicon Valley is situated in Salem, Cascadia (OTL Washington State, Idaho and Oregon) this time around, being host to many MultiNats from far as Japan and the United Kingdom.
Technology in this timeline is more advanced than OTL, mostly by around 10-20 years, but it differs from field to field. Powered armour is the hottest item for a nation's military to own, being developed with an Anglo-Japanese company, Weyland-Yutani's MK V Powered Exoskeleton gives the average soldier the strength to flip a sedan and do other similar feats (think of the suits from the movie Elysium). Other advanced weapons such as Metal Storm tech and railguns (only for naval emplacements and tank barrels) have only been introduced in the past 20 years as the arms race began to wind down in Europe, American companies came in to fill the void, and with ample funding from PMCs and the government. New weapons were created such as autonomous drones (oddly similar to a Walker Gear from Phantom Pain) known as 'Walkers' that assist soldiers with carrying supplies and injured colleagues to the front and other areas of the battlefield. Much to the dismay of scientists, human beings are still required on the battlefield and it will probably stay that way for quite some time.
The medical sector has been very busy, churning out basic bionic limbs that most upper-middle/middle class people can afford at the moment. A cure for AIDS has been discovered in recent years, with Ebola and a particularly nasty form of influenza being next on the list, with the common cold being eradicated in 2001. Nanotech is a long way away at the current time as most of the funding was poured into defence budgets, the medical industry has only just gotten such a boost in the past decade, but at least the world isn't facing a huge epidemic at the moment.
Holograms have recently been the norm in mainstream life, but only the rich can afford them for use in their homes, public displays are plentiful in major cities however, advertising the newest fashion, television shows and government sanction drugs for very little energy, which is mostly fusion and renewable powered in the major nations. Fossil fuels are slowly being phased out, with only Africa, South America and most of Asia using non-renewable sources such as coal or oil.
Space travel is also highly advanced with moon bases being built in the 1960's and 70's. A planned Mars landing, having been hampered by political issues back home has finally been given the go ahead as a large spacecraft carrying a multinational crew has just left Lunar orbit for the Red Planet. Probes circle all major planets in the solar system, FLT hasn't been developed yet either, but there have been a few contenders in recent years. Commercial spaceflight is as normal as taking a flight from London to Sydney, but is only reserved for those with the money to fly, prices are dropping everyday though.

Thanks m8! I did forget to mention that the Red Army Faction in Colombia has enough explosives to send the space elevator there crashing down...
