Description I finally did it! I've been trying for years and years to draw this furry bastard. Finally did it!! XD

Maybe I'll get a tshirt outta this pic.

Woot! Norse mythology completely NEUTERS Greek and Egyptian mythology!! XD

Anyway, Fenrir - the giant wolf, son of Loki and Augerboda. Supposedly father of Hati and SkΓΆll.

This is where he is bound by Gleipnir, a fetter made of strange things like the spittle of a bird, and the roots of a mountain. Stuff like that. Fenrir ate Tyr's hand.

Interpretation of Fenrir (c) ME.

Funny thing about Fenrir is he probably wouldn't have tried to kill Odin and eaten Tyr's hand if they would have just left him alone and not bind him because of what MIGHT happen.

Modern paraphrasing of how Fenrir got trapped:

Fenrir: "Is that rope?"

Odin: "... ... ...sure."

Fenrir: "...let's try it."

Two minutes later...

Fenrir: *Sighs* "Dammit..."

Gleipner is made from the noise made by the footfall of a cat, the roots of stones, the beards of women, the sensibilities of bears, the breath of fishes and the spittle of birds. I love Fenrir and your picture. But I also love Greek and Egyptian mythology so............SHUTUP!

No offense, this is a GREAT picture but Fenrir has a sword in his mouth when he is bound i love the picture though, but the Fenrir myth is my favorite myth in all mythology but it seems the sword part just slips away from most people ^.^;; his drool made a river though (which is kinda nasty)

Great job coloring this pic, you really did justice to Fenrir-sama. *bows to your l33t drawing skills* Your style of drawing make's it look realistic as well, Awesome job

Ahhhhh yes, Fenrir. Quite a piece of work and one of my favorite mythological entities. The muzzle seems a bit short (as he was supposed to bridge the gap between sea and sky when his jaws opened) but this is way more than I'm capable of. Nicely done!

But it's not bad, I'd say. He's still somewhat... fluffy.

I didn't mean anything insulting, It's a whole lot better than I can do. It just seemed to me that he had a slightly (again, no offense) shrunken head. And I would agree he is a tad......erm.......fluffy, I guess, but he still looks bad-ass at the same time. I like this piece, but a revision would most likely be equally cool. Go for it.

Hitler is a very complex historical figure to understand. You must remember that at the time his ideas on the redesigning of Germany's economy were lauded by such people as Winston Churchhill (who, ironically, was quoted saying "If Britain ever came to the economic troubles of Germany, she would be lucky to have a leader like Adolf Hitler,"). This was in the mid-1930s, before they realized he was a lunatic. I honestly don't know why nobody stood up and took notice after he wrote Mein Kampf (it outlines his entire strategy for the war in Europe and his plans after the end of that conflict). Anyway, after Italy adopted Faschism, Hitler started turning Germany toward what would eventually be Naziism, and the rest, as they say, is history. It is now widely believed that Hitler had advanced syphilis and possibly Parckenson's Disease, which helps to explain his later insane decisions like ordering the Luftwaffa to bomb GERMAN CITIES because he felt that by losing the war his people had betrayed him. It is impoertant to understand Hitler because he in no small part helped to indirectly mould our modern world. The events of his coming to power directly affected all of the world for the time up untill the present. His style of government is also the root for modern Islamic regimes as well. Hope this helps.

(cough Luftwaffe cough)

I'm in German advance studies.

I speaks teh German. And spells it too.

Anyway, yes, I'm quite aware of Hitler's history.

Our next trip is Japan, and their reign of terror. OH DEAR, LET'S PLANT TREES IN CHINESE BELLY BUTTONS. (cough) Those cruel Japanese... yet, I love them... hmm..

Macuahuitl In reply to Der-Fuchsprophet [2008-02-09 05:05:06 +0000 UTC]

I'm a crappy speller. Considering I'm of German heritage I should have enough pride to spell it correctly, though, 'cause the german airforce rocks(ME 262 Bitches!). Sorry if I sounded patronizing in the agonizingly long post, that was not my intention. Just trying to help. I wasn't entirely sure how much history you knew. I tried to hit the magor points. Anyway, as far as the Chinese were concerned, I think it was less like trees and more like bayonettes. In a side note, Hitler was pissed at the Japanese for attacking Pearl Harbor (I find this funny). I hope you have a good night.

Der-Fuchsprophet In reply to Macuahuitl [2008-02-09 15:31:47 +0000 UTC]

Heheh. Don't be offended. I am also of German heritage, though only a fraction. I actually have more Norway in me. My sliver of Native American (comanche) is bigger than my German. And yet, here I am in school, learning German and loving it to death.

And by the time this semester is over, I shall know quite a bit.

BTW, thanks again for finding this piece of mine worth commenting on. >>;
