Description
Saw a theory about this regarding aspects of Lilo's behavior. I feel it just makes too much sense; her bizarre fixations with certain things and how she seems to not be the most understanding of social cues. I'd argue a few of her issues could also be from the trauma of losing her parents having an impact and she is fairly young, but I still think it fits.www.youtube.com/watch?v=iFge8Bβ¦

If Lilo is autistic, then Disney has done well. They need to do more autistic characters

Ah, yes. Now you mention that, itβs true that it could be possible. Itβs still theory though, but it would be interesting if Disney could confirm it.

I kinda doubt they will since Lilo & Stitch isnβt the juggernaut fanbase it used to be in the 2000s and the creators involved have since moved onto other recent projects, but I still find it a cool idea.

now that you mention it. yeah. that theory makes a lot of sense. i have Aspergers and can definitely connect some of those dots now that i am an adult and can actually notice those things looking back.
I'd say it's probably both autism and the trauma combined. hadn't thought about it till now. but maybe that's why she was one of my favorite Disney characters back in the day. i was able to relate to her subconsciously.
huh..anyway. thanks for the food for thought.

I was around the same age as Lilo herself when the movie first came out, which helped. I wasn't ostracized to her extent since they usually either tolerated my existence or thought I was funny. But I think the worst part was how...naive I was and my tendency to have meltdowns. (I used to toss textbooks on the ground when stressed or overwhelmed with school-related things)
Oh, you're welcome.

Yes! I've always thought that she was autistic when I was growing up.
