Part of my little idea to make my own character designs for what my adaptation of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory would probably look like. I've been seeing other people have a hand in doing this as well, and thought it'd be fun to try. I did feel inspired by others' designs as well as the multiple official incarnations of the movies and probably the musical, but I hope I tried enough to make them look unique.

From left to right:

Mike Teavee (age 7) from the United States is basically addicted to electronics in general and acts like he's smarter then everyone else. He seems to spend most of the time playing on his phone, listen to music, and is prone to getting bored easily. His biological father left a few years back so his life hadn't been the same since. His young mother doesn't know what to do with his rude attitude and her becoming engaged with another man has not helped the situation. As a little hint to his original incarnation, he does show to have a soft spot for spaghetti Western films, as he used to watch them on TV when he was younger.

Miranda Mary Piker (age 10) from Brazil was raised with the most strict upbringing you could imagine. And let's just say she enforces the rules on her peers just as much if not more. She's overall cold, blunt, and very seldom smiles. You have to wonder if she secretly is envious of other kids indulging in fun (something she never got to have) and threatens to take it away in order to feel better about herself.

Augustus Gloop (age 11) from Australia has food always on the brain. His family owns a butcher shop, the father being very a stoic yet loyal man and the mother who tends to be the jovial smothering type but she has quite the hot-headed personality when pushed. Augustus has always been a bit sheltered from others but he isn't malicious per se, just very oblivious about a lot of things in the world. Honestly he was a little hard to develop since Augustus always had the least amount of character since he's the first boot but I'm hoping you can find some potential here. There is more in store for him in the future too.

Willy Wonka (he's in his late 40s-early 50s) is an enigmatic type, not many people know where he came from or why he does what he does, but if he weren't a candy maker he's a definite magician. His approach to candy making is that with him being so immersed in the craft and his many bizarre ideas, surely the consumers would be wowed as well. However he isn't shown to be the best in social situations as he isn't the most empathetic and can be introverted on his down time. This version kind of resembles the movie versions blended together, but I knew he needed the goatee to complete the look.

Charlie Bucket (age 10) from Nova Scotia comes from a poor family, but tries to be hopeful and appreciates what he has. His parents have to be workaholics in order to survive, and Charlie often shifts between caring for his grandparents at home, going to school, and going out to earn some money of his own (something he really wanted to do to help out at least a little). As a result, he always hears plenty of rumors and news going on in town. He's a bit shy, but very sympathetic and generous to those around him.

Marvin Prune (age 11) from Sicily whose privileged life and his drama queen attitude have given him quite the God complex. He can be very courteous like a gentleman, though he lacks a lot of general empathy and can be oblivious to the feelings of others (especially since he mostly values conventional beauty). He is also shown to be very fascinated by many forms of art, which...vary from paintings to architecture. He is established to have a very onesided crush on Veruca upon meeting her on the tour.

Veruca Salt (age 9) from Denmark comes off at first glance a petite, polite girl with a fondness for ballet, but it's not too long before you see her true colors. She is incredibly spoiled, has everything you could ever ask for yet is still never really satisfied. She will quickly shift her attempt at a saccharine-sweet facade, into grumpy unamusement as she's tested, to a full-on tantrum when things don't go as she wants. Her not so strong-willed father can hardly say no to her as he's had to deal with this behavior for so many years that it's taken a toll on him.

Violet Beauregarde (age 13) from Thailand is talented at many things, with swimming being her favorite activity. But she is very much an overachieving showoff that not many like to be around since she will also put others down and instill fear that she is the one in charge or deserves to be on top. But in reality, this personality seems to be more of a mask intended to hide her inferiority superiority complex so she doesn't look weak or come off as a disappointment. Her gum chewing habit is something she has primarily because she thinks it helps her focus and can go a little crazy from withdrawal without it.

EDIT 3/18/19: I decided to slightly redo these designs. There's gonna be an overhaul on a lot of my Kisekae pics coming soon.

EDIT 4/28/21: I really need to update this one since there have been a lot of changes. First, Marvin and Miranda really started to grow on me so they are canon in this work now. And a few of the designs were a bit outdated, especially Wonka who needed a glow-up. I also went out of my way to edit Augustus's shirt collar, Miranda's skirt is pleated as originally intended, and Veruca now looks like she's wearing a legit fur coat.
