Description
What was going on in my head that told me I should make a group picture? I hate drawing group shots because they take a lot of time, the characters often don't fit on the paper, and sometimes the proportion looks off on every different character usually. But I just felt like doing so, and made another Koopaling picture. It's supposed to be kind of semi-chibi by the way. And chances are Iggy went on a platform to look even more taller while he's supporting Lemmy up.Pretty impressive group shot I guess...

this is awesome! im used to seeing you draw Cheatsy instead of Larry, so it kinda feels weird to see Larry without that shadow around his eyes XD

Yeah, it just seems I'm more prone to drawing Cheatsy probably since I like him a bit more than Larry (Cheatsy just has more personality to me even if I find his design a tad creepy with those eyes...Makes him look a bit like a newly hatched bird...that was on drugs). Β

yea XD plus the fact that none of the in game koopalings have shown any sort of personality, other then luwig being sophisticated, larry liking sports (where he'd most likely cheat. was him using a tennis racket an intentional reference to the cartoons??? ) lemmy being not at all serious and iggy just being fucking insane XDΒ for the others,Β fan artistsΒ only have the official artworks to base any sort of personality on (which isn't enough tbh. the face or pose someone makes really doesn't say much about their personalities. Nintendo needs to give the kopalings more character development).Β I think for most of them people like the cartoon versions more anyway because of that personality thing. and even though his eyes are rather creepy, when you just them humanized he just looks so adorable because of those eyes XD

It's true, the games don't really establish much about the Koopalings, likely since they're never able to spend time developing them because they're bosses that have had limited appearances in the Mario series. Granted, this does pave way for the fans to make up what they want about the Koopalings, but we do still want something more for them.
The cartoons however had the advantage of establishing character for the Koopalings since you got to spend more time knowing about them as they were all important for the story. While the portrayals aren't very accurate, they made up for it for the entertainment value.
And I'd be lying if I said I didn't base some of the ideas for my headcanon of each Koopaling from the cartoon. Like having Lemmy and Iggy be the closest out of all the siblings, Morton being a childish chatterbox, Larry being sneaky and greedy on occasion, etc. These aspects are more toned down though to show other personality traits.
Cute is kind of my forte apparently as even if I try making something creepy, people still find it cute.

yea. and really its not just the koopalings who are lacking character development. in fact, only Mario, Luigi, Peach, Bowser, Bowser Jr, Yoshi, and wario have full character development. the others (like daisy and waluigi) only have one or two traits known. and daisy's tomboyish side is never really shown since she only appears in sports games, where peach is also in, so really saying this makes her a sporty tomboy would technically say the same about peach. as for waluigi, we just know he's evil and greedy like wario. but he never really gets to show that often. and there's also pretty much every other boss or spin-off-filler-character that are also in this boat. but a few of those filler characters as well as the koopalings are very popular amongst fans. they all need more development. leaving it up to the fans is one thing, but if they meant to do that then Miyamoto wouldn't have ever confirmed that the koopalings are NOT bowser's kids. they would've let the fans decide. but no. already they are implementing truth that goes against the fan ideas, thus rendering said fan ideas irrelevant. why not go the full mile and just let the koopalings show a bit more personality. maybe with important roles in an rpg

You're right, Daisy only seems to be involved in the sport games and never really in any other type of game. I know many people have said that Waluigi should get his own spin-off game as well, but yeah, the two do need more depth added onto them.

I feel that at the moment the only way they could ever make it into a major game would be as sidekicks to their respective partners (peach and wario respectively) or another luigi game. or maybe they could be involved in an rpg somehow. maybe instead of just Mario, it could also have wario and Luigi also as the main playable characters (so it would be split into 3 stories) Mario would have peach and Yoshi as his party partners, Luigi could have daisy, toad and maybe Rosalina, and wario could have waluigi and Pauline (I always thought she would be perfect for an anti peach/"warupichi") and possibly captain syrup (dunno who would be Mario's 4th though) that way each story could focus on just 3/4 characters and they would each have a good amount of screen time. voice acting cut scenes would help too (as per tradition: Mario and Luigi would still be silent though) and maybe the koopalings along with bowser and bowser jr could be the main bosses. they could also get screen time and thus more character development. and there is something I don't quite understand about the koopalings: miyamoto confirmed that they aren't bowser;s kids, yet they're still important enough to be included in the spin offs (aside from generic enemies, no mere underling has ever been playable in those) and they areΒ the only leaders of the koopa troop (as in they have the power to command the entire army) to not be related to the royal family in some way (the only other leaders are bowser, kamek and jr) sometimes it seems like not all of Nintendo are in agreement about the koopalings' relationship with bowser. maybe more character development could also help with this and establish their exact relation to him and why they are so special
