                      Chapter 1: Escaping Hell

   The rusted metal scratched at my wrists as I shifted my arms. Having them above my head chained for two weeks straight was very uncomfortable. I grumbled as I looked around the dark empty cell. The only things in the cell was a rotting corpse, some rats and myself.
    I looked up and watched the guard pace back and forth, from one side of my cell to the other. It took him about five steps to go from one side to the other, and after living in this cell for nearly 17 years I have memorized the exact number of steps from the cell door to me, and the exact number of steps from me to the other cell across from me.
   "Is he coming today, or am I stuck in this cell for who knows how long?" I asked the guard as he was pacing. The man stopped and looked at me, he stared at me for a few minutes before answering, "No he's not going to be coming for you anytime soon."
   I glared at him, he'd answered me with such a snarky tone that made my blood boil and I let out a low dangerous growl. The man needed to learn some manners; and I was the one who'd teach him some.
    I began pulling against the chains that bound me to the cold stone wall. The man stopped in his tracks and watched me, he began laughing as I continued to struggle against the bonds.
     The chipped and rusted shackles began cutting into my wrists, allowing my blood to flow freely down my arms. Then after a few minutes the rusted chains gave out and snapped. The guard stopped laughing as i fell to the ground.
     I pushed my long silver hair out of my face as I stood up. The man stood at the cell bars his eye were wide and he was shaking. I grinned at him as I walked towards the cell exit my claws dragging along the dirt floor.
     The guard backed away as I reached the bars. He was shaking more now, which in turn made me  grin even more. I lifted my hand , before slicing the bars with my claws. The man squeaked and jumped back pointing his sword at me as he did.
     I shook my head, I then grabbed hold of the sword pulled it from the man's hands, flipped it around and stabbed it through his heart. The guard collapsed in front of me. I glared down at the body before swiping his keys and leaving the dungeon.
      I slowly walked up the spiraled staircase towards the main floor. I stopped about halfway up, the loss of blood from the slices on my wrists was draining me. I shook my head and pressed on. Once I got to the top of the stairs and through the exit I collapsed to the ground exhausted. I looked around the dark and gloomy castle, there was no one in sight as usual.
     After a few minutes of resting I got up, I had to find my coat and get out of this place. I began walking down a hallway till I found some stairs. I went up the stairs to the second floor, walked down another hallway until I came to a large black and silver door. I opened it and walked inside.
     "I see that once again you've managed to escape you cell Torment," the man in the room said, he was sitting at a large desk, a quill in one hand and a cup of coffee in the other. He looked up at me and smiled his usual gentle smile. I glared at him, my eyes scanning around the room until I found what I was looking for.
     "Don't even think of stealing that trench coat again," the man grumbled as he looked back at the paper he was reading. My glare deepened as I growled, "Actually it's my coat that you stole from me when I was younger, it's the only thing that my father ever left me, it's the one good thing he ever did for me he gave me the means to hide my true self." The man at the desk shrugged.
     "By the way Torment, how the hell do you expect me to keep you here if you keep killing all my guards?" the man asked as he once again looked up at me, his blood red eyes shimmered in the dim light.  I shrugged and said, "Well I don't know Lucifer maybe if you'd stop licking me up all the time I wouldn't have to kill your damn guards."
      He glared at me then, and just as he was about to get up I flicked my finger out and stabbed him in the shoulder with my claw, I then grabbed my coat and dashed out the door leaving my foster father yelling after me.
     I rushed down the steps as I put the coat on, it immediately synchronized with my thoughts and changed from an ebony black to an ivory white, my red eyes turned into a wispy dark blue and my claws shrunk to a reasonable size. I smiled as I rushed down the hall and out the front door to the castle.
    I stopped as I looked around the burning waste land that was hell, I sighed and began to run when I heard footsteps behind me. I Raced past goblins and ghouls, and dodge multiple kinds of demons and devils. I avoided any spirits that tried to cling to me. I let out a breath of relief as i reached the door that led to earth. Only authorized people were allowed to use this door, but i often used it when I decided to escape.
     "Running away again are we Torment?" a shadowy voice said  from behind me. I jumped and turned around. My eyes narrowed angrily as I hissed, "Would you not sneak up on me like that Grim, it scares the shit out of me when you pop up like that." Grim chuckled as he moved closer to me, his cloak wisped around him like smoke.
     "Where you really gonna leave here without these?" he asked as he pulled two daggers out of his cloak and handed them over to me. I reached over and took them from his hands. I looked down at his hands which were simply bone, though they did have some flesh hanging off of them which made me shudder. I smiled at the hooded reaper.
      "Thanks Grim, I honestly don't know what I'd do with out you," I said before turning and walking through the door. "You'd be locked up for the rest of eternity my friend," Grim called after me as I disappeared through the door and walked into the human world.
      "So this would make it the eleventh time that I've escaped from hell I guess," I mumbled to myself as I walked out of the alleyway I was in and into the  streets and disappeared into the crowd.
