Description Just because.

How could you go this long without drawing arguably the second most important character in the Ace Attorney trilogy!?
And to that, my answer is... my bad.

I've actually drawn Maya countless times before, but those were all little pen sketches and I didn't really feel the need to upload them.

So have a mini Maya.

Her eyes areΒ  b l u e - you can't convince me otherwise.
But the wiki says it's brown--

Her eyes looked blue to me in the first official art.
Then for whatever reason, it was changed to gray/brown in Trials and Tribulations.
Then it was blue (or green, apparently) in the 10th anniversary artwork.
Then it was brown in the Trilogy promotional artwork.
Then it was blue again in PL vs AA.
I don't even.
Eye colours among Maya and Nick seem to be just one giant contradiction.
Get it together guys

Thank you! c:

Hahaha I love how detailed you can list every single eye colour fail
I really don't get Capcom here. Is it that difficult or boring to give each character one constant eye colour?

Also, sorry for the super late responses lol. But I have stuff of you in my inbox so I will look through everything! And response to old but nevertheless interesting conversations

Hey, welcome back!

I don't know, man, I'm just very particular about little details, haha
The only thing that's canon to me is the actual game.
Her and Nick's eyes are blue in the game, so they're blue to me.

Aha, no problem!
I appreciate the fact that you're looking through everything, haha

I could name a few if we're talking in-game characters... /shot

Maya's great. O.G. favourite assistant.
Anyone who doesn't think she's important, well... they have their own opinions even if it's wrong

MartynThings In reply to Kitty-xx [2014-08-07 19:47:07 +0000 UTC]

She's a spirit medium and loves burgers. What's not to love?

Besides, I often wonder what she's up to during AA4/DD

Kitty-xx In reply to MartynThings [2014-08-08 06:08:44 +0000 UTC]

Busy being the Master of Kurain, would be my guess.

Still miss seeing her though.
References and cameos hardly count for one of the most important characters in the original trilogy.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MartynThings In reply to Kitty-xx [2014-08-08 09:24:54 +0000 UTC]

Me too. I envision her as the master of Kurain Village but also a freelance scriptwriter/producer for Steel Samurai. Hey, spirit mediums don't pay much and I think she'd love that job.

I'm guessing she won't return in the next game. Still, it was nice tto see her in Layton vs Wright

Kitty-xx In reply to MartynThings [2014-08-08 13:24:20 +0000 UTC]

I'd think she'd want to stay faaaaar away from Global Studios because of Sal.

Considering the next one is set in the past, I don't think so either.
The assistant for DGS (as far as I'm concerned) doesn't seem to be Maya's ancestor either.

Yes, it was!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MartynThings In reply to Kitty-xx [2014-08-08 15:11:28 +0000 UTC]

Oh yeah, that's a good point. I assumed the reason she sent Nick all that stuff in hospital during AJ was because she may have connections.

I think it'd be a coincidence if it was her ancestor. Am looking forward to it though.

It just made me miss her more afterwards though.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Kitty-xx In reply to MartynThings [2014-08-08 18:19:00 +0000 UTC]

Nah, Maya's just our resident Steel Samaniac besides Edgeworth, but he'd never admit to that

It would be pretty neat, but if it was her ancestor, I'd expect them to have the same last name (Japanese: Ayasato), but they don't.
Ugh, I need to stop getting so hyped up about it.
It's not even out in Japan yet and it'll take at least a year for localization (assuming they do localize DGS).

That's why we replay the games.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MartynThings In reply to Kitty-xx [2014-08-08 19:09:48 +0000 UTC]

Samaniac? I like it. Although, I suppose her home at the village is clogged with the shows merchandise!

I would think we will see it. Seeming as Capcom is likely to publish it, I'm guessing it'll be digital only. Happened with Dual Destinies and the upcoming Trilogy. Not perfect but it'll do. Especially if it's at DD price!

Haha. I'm thinking about replaying the trilogy again but I might wait for the 'HD' collection on eShop

Haha im thinki

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Kitty-xx In reply to MartynThings [2014-08-09 06:16:40 +0000 UTC]

Yeeeeup.

I sure hope so.
Since the game is set in the past, I have this feeling that there's gonna be major cultural references.
Poor localization team, that's gonna be a nightmare.
As long as Capcom doesn't pull another GK2 on us, I'll be happy.
localize it already goddamnit

Hopefully the sprite animations will look better than they did on the iOS version.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MartynThings In reply to Kitty-xx [2014-08-09 10:06:18 +0000 UTC]

Oh god, don't remindeed of that. Now I'm worried it won't happen. Mind you, I hear sales
aren't too bad.

Exactly, somehow the Japanese culture things are going to take some getting working. Although, I expect they'll work around it. Imply Nick has Japanese roots.

I've heard they are rewriting the trilogy in some parts. I hope that means correcting some of the grammar. Well, except the 'miracle never happen' line.

By the looks of it, it might be the same ugly iOS ones :/

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Kitty-xx In reply to MartynThings [2014-08-09 12:58:05 +0000 UTC]

I know, like whyyyyy.
Capcom y u do dis
I would totally buy GK2 if they were to localize it.
Whatever happened to that petition for it anyway.

Yeah, I'd imagine just working on case 2 in DD would've been a nightmare.
But now a whole game with Japanese roots.

If they correct the 'Miracle never happen' line, I'm done.

Ew nooo

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MartynThings In reply to Kitty-xx [2014-08-09 13:34:41 +0000 UTC]

Oh boy, I don't know. I know there's fanslations out there butit would be better to get it legitimately. Even by eShop.

See, I could handle that as it didn't require too much knowledge of Japanese mythology to grasp as I was familiar with some of it. I'm sure something will work out.

Same goes for the 'Milkshake brings all the boys to the yard' line.

I know. I wasn't expecting it to be DD graphics but y'know..

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Kitty-xx In reply to MartynThings [2014-08-09 15:44:05 +0000 UTC]

The fan translation is great though.
The only real qualm I have with it is the major sound spikes in the new characters' English objections.
But it's still great.

They did leave a few words alone, though.
Specifically 'yokai' and all of their specified names.

Yeah, but that line was grammatically correct, if memory serves.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MartynThings In reply to Kitty-xx [2014-08-09 16:16:14 +0000 UTC]

I've not played it (in fact, I never finished the first. Desperate for money. Traded it in). Would love to though.

Oh yeah. I think it'd be hard to westernise it. Maybe it's a good thing Capcom didn't change it.

I meant I hope they don't change it to a more updated reference. The original line was funny.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Kitty-xx In reply to MartynThings [2014-08-09 19:00:28 +0000 UTC]

Neither, I just watched a playthrough of it.
I want to own an official English version, but until then, I'll be watching the playthrough.

Maybe so.

They can not change it. Those references make the game.
If they change them, I'm done.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MartynThings In reply to Kitty-xx [2014-08-09 20:39:45 +0000 UTC]

Ah, i'm surprised we never saw anything of Kay in AJ or DD. Unless something happened to her during GK..

I doubt they will change it. Especially the voices. It would seem a bit odd to give them the VA/Level 5 voices in the originals.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Kitty-xx In reply to MartynThings [2014-08-10 06:49:48 +0000 UTC]

While it would have been nice, Kay really didn't have any business being in AJ or DD.
She's connected to Edgeworth and Gumshoe by friendship; not as some legal assistant.
While Gumshoe did make a cameo in the flashback case in AJ, it's not likely that Kay would have been there. Maybe in the gallery, but nothing major.
And with Edgeworth being Chief Prosecutor in DD, I'd imagine he'd be a lot busier than when he was 'just a prosecutor'.
Since prosecuting in 5-5 would have been a business trip, albeit an unusual one, I doubt that Kay would be there either.
She's all about the adventure, after all.

Β nO they can't change the voices.
The voices in DD still throw me off.
Like, how did Nick's voice change that much in one year.
I can kind of understand Edgeworth, since we hadn't seen/heard from him in seven years, but he does sound really old. ._.
The same with the Layton crossover, actually.
I enjoy the VA in the cut scenes, but the objections either sound... too forced or too weak.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MartynThings In reply to Kitty-xx [2014-08-10 09:30:34 +0000 UTC]

Aw, well seeming as I never fully playes the GK games, II couldn't think of a way to incorporate Kay so who knows. How olds woild she in AJ/DD anyway?I'm guessing he chose to put on a more professional voice for work purposes. You can still hear the UMVC3 in his shouting.

at first, I couldn't get used to his Layton versus voice but now I like it. It's more consistent and the delivery of serious and comedy was good. i

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Kitty-xx In reply to MartynThings [2014-08-10 11:57:42 +0000 UTC]

The GK games are never really referenced in the main series anyway, so it'd be unlikely for her to be there.
By AJ/DD, she'd be around 24/25... I think.
If memory serves, she's 17 in the GK games.

You mean Nick?
That's because the voice actor for DD and UMvC3 are one and the same.

I enjoy his voice in the cut scenes, but his objection just sounds so weak in comparison to the original trilogy (and AJ/DD for that matter).

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MartynThings In reply to Kitty-xx [2014-08-10 12:44:29 +0000 UTC]

Maybe Kays having other adventures (ie. Capcom gave up on her)

Yeah, Sam Reigel. I meant his voice is different. In DD it's more grown up yet in MVC3 it's the same goofy tone.

It can't be worse than Edheworths voice in it. He sounds a little snotty in Layton

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Kitty-xx In reply to MartynThings [2014-08-10 13:53:59 +0000 UTC]

Most likely.
Just like ex-Chief Prosecutor Lana Skye.
No but seriously, what happened to her?

I haven't paid too much attention to UMvC3, so I can't say.
I'm partial to Ben Judd.
Mostly because that's what I became used to.

There are a lot of people talking about Edgeworth in the crossover, but I don't remember hearing it.
I know he makes an appearance in the credits, but I don't remember that too well.
I heard he's in a special episode too, but I've yet to see (since I don't own PLvsAA yet) it.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MartynThings In reply to Kitty-xx [2014-08-10 14:17:31 +0000 UTC]

Ah, good old Lana. What is it with young adult women in that game and not hanging around for too long?

Yeah, I'm still used to his voice too. Had a certain oomph to it all.

Yeah, I heard that too. He does make a small cameo in the credits. His voice turned British somehow.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Kitty-xx In reply to MartynThings [2014-08-10 15:26:26 +0000 UTC]

...Chief...
*sob*

I confess, hearing it in AJ is probably what kept me into the game.
A shame, since the game was supposed to revolve around Polly.

Well, Edgeworth is seen as some sort of refined, gentlemanly type.
Though, he is canonically American, with German most likely being his second language.
With how much he travels, it makes sense that he would have been to the UK before, but he's far from English as far as I'm concerned.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MartynThings In reply to Kitty-xx [2014-08-10 16:46:26 +0000 UTC]

*sob* Poor Lana.

I'll admit it was seeing the old graphical style of the original trilogy in AJ that did it for me. Not that I hated AJ though.

I always envisioned Edgeworth a calm yet confident voice about him. His English accent made him sound a bit too impatient and rude

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Kitty-xx In reply to MartynThings [2014-08-10 17:49:31 +0000 UTC]

She didn't have that big of an impact on me, really.
I felt for her, but at least she wasn't brutally murdered...

Oh, well, yeah, that too.

I think most people who have thought that.
He was rarely one to make a rude or insulting comment (with the exception of Nick and the Oldbag).
He had more of a snarky attitude, but was mostly polite.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MartynThings In reply to Kitty-xx [2014-08-10 19:02:59 +0000 UTC]

Nor me. Not as much as Mia. Especially during the third game. Who'd have thought her death would open and close the trilogy.

I don't think he's rude to Nick. More like he likes to tease and provoke him to challenge him under pressure. And as we know, nick under pressure is a vulnerable Nick

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Kitty-xx In reply to MartynThings [2014-08-11 05:24:04 +0000 UTC]

The third game was basically the Fey game.
It's funny how the cases Godot were in charge of were essentially filler cases until the big finale.
Still an awesome guy though.

...
"Mr. Phoenix Wright... You never tire of prying into other people's business, do you?"
"It's against my policy to discuss evidence with the defense. Especially with you."
"Maybe YOU should be stripped naked and run out for making a mockery of this court!"

Not rude, per se, but not polite either.
I mean, they're best friends, after all.
They don't have to be nice to each other.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MartynThings In reply to Kitty-xx [2014-08-11 05:53:41 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, ok, let's just say he can get a bit impolite while working. Will that do?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Kitty-xx In reply to MartynThings [2014-08-11 06:32:58 +0000 UTC]

Everyone can get a bit impolite while working.
That's no news to me.
Edgeworth's just more likely to do so in front of his childhood friend.

MartynThings In reply to Kitty-xx [2014-08-11 07:02:46 +0000 UTC]

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Kitty-xx In reply to MartynThings [2014-08-11 08:10:39 +0000 UTC]

Of course.
He's learned that most things that Edgeworth says aren't meant to be taken personally.

Larry, on the other hand, seems to take everything personally and cries over everything.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

That said, he's a great character.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Kitty-xx In reply to MartynThings [2014-08-11 10:16:35 +0000 UTC]

Aw, I wouldn't say he has dreadful taste in women maybe those women had bad taste in men
He just literally falls for everyone.
And he kind of treats them like items.
He's just a lovesick fool.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MartynThings In reply to Kitty-xx [2014-08-11 10:25:36 +0000 UTC]

Well, gullible is the word as he keeps falling for the same sort of girl. Maybe he should get together with Oldbag and...actually, scratch that.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Kitty-xx In reply to MartynThings [2014-08-11 12:35:35 +0000 UTC]

I'm pretty sure he's just infatuated with nearly every woman he sees.
After Nick got him declared 'not guilty', Larry immediately got over Cindy and started flirting with Mia.
He also made a passing comment on Maya during Turnabout Goodbyes, commented on being in love with Desiree DeLite, falling for Iris, head over heels for Franziska, calling Kay cute, and there are two other woman in GK2 he practically drools over as well.
In the promotional art for the Nintendo Wii, you can see him flirting with Penny and Regina too.

Besides Oldbag being grossly obsessed with Edgeworth, Larry and Oldbag have already met, and while she was surprisingly less disgusted with Larry than she was with Nick, she's still got her eyes set on Edgey.

I'm sure Thena would be flattered... at first.
Trucy, however, if Larry even tried to make a move, Nick would probably send him on his way in the "nicest" way possible.
Probably.
