Description I'm stuck here on my rear because I sprained my ankle playign Dance Dance Revolution. So, i got bored and decided to doodle a quick tutorial on how I draw my hands. Many books stay draw a straight triangle, but those confuse me SO much and what do you do with the OTHER pointy end???

PS: Yeah, my hand is messy. It was a quick doodle. Don't copy mine. Insteadm, improve on it and just use the basis to get the hand going.

1. Draw an hour glass with a wide middle and slightly curve the top evenly. Just by doing this, you have drawn your knuckles, wrist, and the beginning of the lower arm.

2. Add in the fingers. Remember your fingers, when together, create a small arc. Pinky is the smallest, middle finger is the largest. Ring finger is always slightly taller than the index finger unless your model/character had an accident or a deformity in life. The tip of the thumb, when against the hand, barely goes above the valleys of your fingers. If the thumb is out, it can onyl goes as far as making an L shape with the sid eof your index finger. Unless, of course, your model/character is extremely flexable.

3. Erase the guide lines, fix any fingers, add in the hand lines and nails if you're going for realism. Women have nice curved nails that start as ovals and long thin fingers. Guys have square fingers that end in short blunt squares with blocky fingers. Villans have curved nails that usually end in points and long slender fingers.

Ta da, you just drew a hand!

Nice idea. I've done the same for a full frontal body - I just haven't uploaded it yet. When and if I do, would you mind if I linked to this for a hand tutorial?
