Description Klonoa... It's time for you to go home, back to your Phantomile.

But! I don't want to! I don't want to!!!

---

This is dedicated to a favorite childhood game of mine, Klonoa - Door to Phantomile.
At that age when I finished the game I was shocked and left in tears. I play this game thinking this is Klonoa and his friend, working together to stop a force of evil from destroying this world. They traveled to many places, beautiful and frightening, and got passed many obstacles to reach this final battle between Ghadius, a Dark Spirit. After defeating him, with his final breath Ghadius tells them his dreadful message. Now Klonoa and Huepow have to stop an even larger force to prevent the world from falling into nightmares. It put their skills to the test and all seemed to have ended happily.

Until I thought I was watching the aftermath. The world has been saved, I guess Klonoa and Huepow will go back to their happy lives playing in the fields. I'm sure with time, the world will look green and bright again. But Huepow was acting strange and silent. Then he finally speaks. "You're actually... You're really... You don't really exist in this world!" Klonoa was summoned to that world to save it. I didn't think it was much of a big deal until I listen more, I find out that Klonoa doesn't belong there and all his memories with Huepow are fake. He can't stay once the Diva Lephise sings the Song of Renewal. It's not fair! Why can't anything be done? Even if the beginnings of friendship weren't real, they became real to Klonoa because of this entire adventure.

The Diva began to sing and Klonoa was being sucked away from this world. I was begging for some force to stop it. Suddenly Huepow himself runs over and grabs a hold of Klonoa's ring. He hangs on and I watch this hopeless scene as they struggle. This bond of friendship rang true at this moment. The Diva we saved, singing Klonoa away from this world versus these tiny hands trying to ride out this black hole. It's not fair.

Huepow loses his grip and Klonoa... well... It's almost like it could have been missed. He's just gone and the last thing you hear is him calling out for Huepow. The world renews without him and it seems like life just goes on from here. Huepow looks saddened but he wipes his tears and looks up to where Klonoa disappeared and smiles.
And I am crying my eyes out. I was never used to these kind of endings as a kid. The game deceived me entirely. Because of that, it meant just that much to me.

--

Now about Klonoa (Wii) ...
I am not very pleased with some of their decisions. >8C
IT'S JOKA NOT JOKER! AND IT'S HUEPOW NOT HUEPOE!... EVEN IF IT'S PRONOUNCED THAT WAY!
AND THEY DID HORRIBLE REMAKES OF THE MOVIE SCENES! AND WHY DID THEY TAKE OUT DOOR TO PHANTOMILE IN THE TITLE?
That's it. 8D
Yay, for Phantomilian language option.

Made to be as big as a wallpaper. Though not perfect in size, I hope it squeezes in nicely to monitors.
I wanted to try making thin lines.
I wanted to also finish this before Christmas but it took a lot longer. And it has about 40 layers. @_@
I didn't think I could possibly finish when I looked at the sketch of this. But I really wanted to try my best. I'm just relieved.

I agree with everything except most things about the end about the Wii version.  I mean, come on!  It's irrational to criticize a name over spelling!  Not to mention, Joka is Joker in japanese.  So when this version was localized, they did that to reference this.  And yes.  I do agree taking out the Door to Phantomile in the title is weird & rather unnecessary, but what about the people who experienced the wii version first?  Like me?  The Wii version was the 1st Klonoa game I EVER played.  You should've seen my reaction to the ending.  Not really surprising though.  And the movie scenes in that one looks great.  As for the language option...  I agree it was a good idea, but the english option really isn't a big deal.  Besides, it soulds like Klonoa's reliving the original Door to Phantomile as if the remake takes place years after Lunatea's Veil.

Until to this day this ending makes me cry. No matter how much i try to overcome it, i always end up crying , it's just to sad to see 2 best friends been separate one of each other, other thing that's really important to me of this game, is that it's the first game that ever made me cry as a kid, with other games i never felt so sad on the ending, it's the first game that i played that it'd a plot that i wanted to continue knowing, for those reasons and the gameplay itself, Klonoa - Door to phantomile has been one of my favourite games of all time, hell, it's even in my top 5 favourite games of all time!, i love this game so much that i ask me this, WHY THE HECK I DIDN'T EVEN GET IT ALREADY ON THE PSN??!!   i have to save some money to buy it as soon as i can  .

Oh, and this drawing is SO AWESOME!! it made me had a tear on my cheek, added to favourites immediatly

I do feel exactly the same This is the saddest ending I'd ever seen but strangely also the best... It's those moments where you have to choose between the one that represents everything for you in one hand and a world that you don't care about because you can't live in it without that person... Huepow knew that but tried his best to keep Klonoa with him in his world, even if it would mean that the world wouldn't get better anymore Every humans would do the same in stand of Huepow : we don't care about the world's fate if that means the most precious person cannot live in with us anymore. So many tears, even at 21. And then this wonderful but really sad music comes with the staff roll, so many chills ^^'

Aah Klonoa, if it was not for this game I wouldn't be here. Both Klonoa 1 and 2 gave me so much, I hope someday I can give something back.

You know I agree with the ones for wii, I watched pretty much the whole video for the game ( I don't have a wii) and they changed the names of the characters some, and the scenes idk they ruined to me. And Klonoa is a lot cuter with his made up language and his wahoo's compared to the original and normal english lame voicing I think. Idk the original is far by the best and that ending makes me cry everytime. Beautiful work, one of my favorites!

LATE.

<3 Thanks! I am very finicky about the Wii version but happy to see Klonoa alive and well. Just wish he kept speaking Phantomilian and the video scenes showed more effort and effects like the original. If SSBBrawl and Super Mario Galaxy can pull off stunning effects, why can't this game?

Oh my goodness! Klonoa! It's been like 2 years I haven't play this game anymore! I missed it! I love this little cute guy!

I never able to finish the first game is PS1 which he was still in red clothes, but I finished the PS2, with the Princess and the dog, too bad I forgot the name, I just love Klonoa, and I don't even know why.

It's always had a special place in my childhood because of the emotions I went through. Fear, sadness, happiness. It's like Earthbound.

I loved this game. Especially the ending. So sad. ;_;

Yeah, they messed up some stuff on the remake. No subtitle, Klonoa sounds way to much like a teenager(he was a kid in the first one), they got Ghadius' title wrong(it's SPIRIT of Darkness, not King) and...yeah. They did okay though, in my opinion. XD

Yeah, I'm gonna stick with the original. I liked it more when he was short like a kid. Like it was his first experience as a Dream Traveler. Now that he's older he's used to the coming and going.

The ending is not a happy one, but I wonder...
When did Huepow call Klonoa from his world and how did he do it?

Klonoa was walking in a forest when a ring came from the sky. Huepow then comes out of the ring. (I'm not sure if this was a flashback or part of the dream Klonoa had). Klonoa then has the bad dream and he then wakes up from it. He looks over to find Huepow awake.

Notice that Huepow looks surprised.
Was it during the dream when he called Klonoa from his world?

In the end Huepow tells Klonoa that every memory he has of him was made up. Lephise then sings a song that sends Klonoa back home.

What do you think about Huepow calling Klonoa from his world to save the place from bad dreams?

kittydemonchild In reply to the737 [2010-02-06 06:31:49 +0000 UTC]

One might say selfish, but does saving a world justify that? It's hard to imagine bearing that kind of weight on your shoulders the entire time. On one hand you feel guilty for tricking this person, who is smiling at you in the face, and using them like a tool. But on the other hand, this world where forgotten dreams is energy, is your world. It's everything to you. That's what makes the ending so effective. It's... Difficult to Say.

When I was little, I thought Klonoa was waking up in the ending. That was his way 'back to his Phantomile'.

BAWWWW I'm not going to cry, I'm not going to-
too late.
Ah freak, my heartstrings.
This picture is like those songs that are too pretty to listen to, or that movie you know is going to make you cry.
You love that it touched you so deeply but you still avoid it because the power of something inanimate doing this is so mystifying. ;_;
Really, beautiful.
