Next up is Celestia! Of note, she no longer carries the title of "Princess".

Celestia travels Equestria (and the occasional other world) on the down low with Discord. Along the way, she is working to better herself for the future. While she has no intent to take up the reigns of Equestria again, she wants to fortify herself to never fall into the grasp of Arcane Fragmentation Syndrome. Plus, it's nice to take a step back to enjoy the country she built.

1. In this universe, Celestia was an Earth Pony before her ascention. She has a stockier build, and is incredibly physically strong. Between the 4 alicorns of Equestria, her magic is actually the weakest functionally. Most of her magic knowledge is theoretical, and it takes a lot out of her to pull of complex spells. Her connection with the sun is often followed with an association of the harvest. While she doesn't have any particular alignment towards plant growth, she does participate in harvest festivals around Equestria.

After Luna's return, and insistence, she regrew a little bit of a traditional unicorn style beard. It was quite the shock to the general public at first, but it's now something that is coming back into style for mares and stallions alike.

To many, Celestia is still revered as a goddess. This idea makes her largely uncomfortable, and is a big part in why she stepped down from the throne of Equestria. The 1000 years alone without her sister because of her own mistakes left her realizing how flawed she was, and decided a long time ago that this would eventually happen. She stepped down not long after Luna did, seizing the opportunity available to her.

Twilight hasn't really forgiven her for that, and despite Celestia's best efforts to keep contact with her most favored student, they don't really talk anymore unless they have to.

2. Celestia doesn't like to have her mane down outside of official events and meetings because it just plain gets in the way. Braiding it keeps it from flowing with reckless abandon from her magic. It takes a lot of effort to get it into a semi-neat braid and Celestia jokes about chopping it all off just to keep things simple.

3. While Celestia isn't a particularly powerful magic user, Discord is and helped her craft a disguise so they wouldn't get constantly stopped while traveling. Bearing fond memories of when they were both younger, they decided on a form that was close to how she looked pre-ascention. With the addition of wings, because Celestia just can't imagine life without flight these days despite her Earth Pony heritage.

Her incognito form goes by the name "Sunny Daze". It started as a joke, but ended up sticking over time. While raising Entropy in her younger years, this is the form she primarily took. From the time of her hatching, to being sent off to live in Ponyville, Celestia, Discord, and Entropy all lived in a herd.

Herds are ponies who spend most of their days travelling in caravans away from cities, living a more "natural" life. It gave them a lot of freedom to be themselves, and most of the ponies close to them knew exactly who they were. Most herd ponies mind their business, and these are a great way for reformed criminals to find their way back into peaceful society. This was a program set up by Celestia herself not long after her sisters fall, to help the soldiers in their fight learn to cope afterwards.
