Hey, thank you! It's not my favourite colour, either (quite the contrary, in fact), so painting a predominantly orange painting felt like a real challenge. I see it maybe as the surface of a fiery burning planet.

well, I wouldn't wear orange clothes for instance
orange is also our national colour, that doesn't make it any better either..
but, the painting is great, you've certainly won the challenge

Hehe, I vaguely remember a bunch of guys dressed in orange running around a green field (I used to watch the football world cups in the 90's)... That is an odd national colour. Do you have any idea of why it was chosen?

haha yeah the whole country turns orange when there's important football, I hate football, maybe thats why I don't like orange
no idea why it is the national colour, our queen's family name is 'van oranje' (orange) maybe that's the reason..

I get your point, and in fact have noticed a similar thing when it comes to the Finnish national colours (blue and white). Usually, I like them a lot, but whenever there's a big international ice hockey tournament, the colours take on a totally different tone - that of idiots on ice and even bigger idiots in the audience, dressed in blue and white and waving flags... URGh!

It's interesting to think how things like these affect the way we feel about certain colours.

colour association is a strange phenomena, like word assotiation or smell assotiation, it's very personal I think..
I'm jealous at your national colour! & I rather see a bunch of blue & white idiots than orange ones

Thanks, man! I have an uneasy relationship with orange. In certain contexts, I like it, but only when it's used with other colours. Pure orange makes me shudder, and not in a good way. That's why I took the challenge, and why I'm so glad of the result.

Thanks, again! The nice thing about my experiment is that since I finished this painting, I've started using more orange in other works, as well. It's great that we can always expand our palettes and techniques.

Very true!! I tried to appease my dislike for orange by wearing it all the time. Now I can't get enough of the stuff!!!!
It's sort of like how I didn't like Chinese food when I was a kid. Or broccoli. Now I adore both.

Huh, I can't even imagine myself wearing orange... but it's best to start small. It's true that dislikes sometimes turn into likes. I used to hate coffee but now I can't get enough of it.
