Yeah, Metal Sonic could be a match for Gemerl, but no way I'm buying the Witchcarters are able to pin Gemerl down like that.Gemerl: Yeah, Metal, about your buds...

Metal: SIgh...the idiots I have to work with. If I get out in one piece I need to inform Doctor Eggman about the working conditions. I can't work with idiots like those.

The Witchcarters don't stand a chance against Gemerl, unless Gemerl's fight with Metal Sonic and the huge number of Badniks has made him a bit shabby, or the writer just decided to increase the Witchcarters power level.

That is true, except for Bearenger. That bear managed to cause quite some trouble for Akhult (a blood thirsty warlord) and without using dark Gaia powers. I'm sure Akhult would've eventually defeated Bearenger with psychic powers if only Abyss did not interfere. Now, I'm not saying Bearenger is super powerful, I'm just sayin that he's not as weak as his 2 comrades when compared to Gemerl.
