Description Another old drawing. One of my favorite horses though I've never see it in a real life. So I used a photo from a journal as a reference.

It was drawn in an indian ink just by putting points (never will do it again, I needed to put some thouthand points. Or millions? )
It took me about 2 weeks.

Shires are so beautiful and great for drawing - they harness all the majesty, movement and gentle hearts of all horses. thats the challenge in my mind when drawing them, to capture all of that, and you've done an amazing job. :] grats!

I can't believe it! That is my favorite horse I swear, I just don't know its name, I didn't saw it in real life either, I saw it at a documentary. It is a low status horse, it was used to carry stuff and work in the fields I guess, but even so, it is the most wonderful horse ever.

This horse calles "shire". It's an English breed (so it named after one region of England ). And I saw two of them last August at the horse exibition in Russia

Think next some years they will available to buy. Anyway I haven't money for every month payment for stables. And I also renting a horse whom I couldn't see for second month because of a great amount of work

Sadness, maybe it's the Russian weather conditions or something similar. Much welcomes.

No, it's not because of the weather. I know many breeds of our cart-horses have shires in the family tree. But it was very long time ago. The same thing was with friesians, but now they were imported here again 2 or 3 years ago

O, is that it. It probably has to do with a need for them. Is there a need for heavy draft horses like the Shire?

Kivuli In reply to starwarrior2 [2006-11-29 22:36:27 +0000 UTC]

Friesians are just too beautiful, so many people want to have so beautiful horse
In villages people often have horses to make their work easy, but those horses usually are not pure-bred, it's too expensive for them. So I think shires will be here only "a favorite pet" or for advertising, not for real work.

Terrific job. The folds in the skin and the hair around the hooves are particularly well done.
