This image is lovely and endearing in many ways. Primarily there is the art which is delicate, bright, organic, and vibrant which is ideal to capture the central theme of joy. Secondly is the composition, the characters and their poses: this is contrary to typical Human behavior in that for most of recorded history and still today (though small changes can be seen) gender roles and the constraints of those roles define and restrict our relationships and expressions of emotion. Something that recently fascinates me about Elf societies (in general) is their lack of gender roles; a child might just as commonly put flowers in their father's hair as their mother's, a father might compose a song about something for his son just as for his daughter, and a mother might teach their children marksmanship even as their father instructs them in swordsmanship. People will love whom they will for their own reasons, no one needs to fit a mold. Parents should love their kids whether they be tender-hearted (girls or boys) or whether they be rough-n-tumble (girls or boys).
