Description
All Photo's were taken and edited by Kieron Maher.Taken in Worcester, Worcestershire, England.
This specimen is a recent buy of blue lace agate cut and polished from a geode, I got this and two other's from an antique dealer on the high street I also bought another blue lace agate and an amethyst cut still in its matrix.
I wanted to wait in till I had a light tent with an acrylic rise to get the right shot but I couldn't wait to shoot it!
Eventually I want to start properly collecting geode's and mineral's to photograph but currently I'm saving for more studio equipment.
Volcanic geodes are formed by cooling lava. Sedimentary geodes are formed underwater, possibly when sediments collect around the lifeless body of a sea animal. When the animal decays, it creates a cavity.

I regret to inform you that the geode slice you are holding is not a blue lace agate! It's just a dyed geode slice.
Blue lace agates are an icy blue, and telling by how vibrant that blue is and how the color settles in the cracks, it's dyed.

Im not sure whether agate is sedimentary or volcanic. I have a feeling it's sedimentary, so It would form around dead animals or plant life, Stuff collects around the animal and over time sediment collects over it creates a cavity and with the pressure, boom!
Im glad you like it.
