Description
Male Mandarin duck (Aix galericulata) waiting patiently up a tree for the female he was chasing to reappear...Hey, its a good vantage point
The title of the deviation comes from the comments I overheard from people in the park who witnessed the bird in the tree
As =meihua pointed out these birds do infact nest in trees so its not a strange occurence

Well, that's where they nest... Mandarin and wood ducks all nest in trees. This is not an unusual sight.

I am aware of this.
But to many people and specifically to the people whom where around me in the park that day (mainly parents, grandparents and children) It was somewhat of a surprise to see.Perhaps I should have explained this in the artist comment.
I have been a birdwatcher for many years and have indeed seen Mandarin duck nesting in holes in trees.

I've seen an Egyptian goose in a tree, they like the tall ones to roost in: - [link] and [link]
Not seen a duck though, so thanks for sharing
