Description
In The EveningI couldn\'t sleep, to damn hot, so I figured I would get up and process some of the shots I took last night at Washington Park in Denver of the sunset. This is one of those shots. Quite a gorgeous evening last night, a lot of people out, heck even had a Bagpipe band. I would have stayed longer if I hadn\'t been sick lol Thoughts welcomed and print to come!
Shot info:
Minolta 5D
Minolta 18-200 DT Lens
Dynatran 8180 Tripod
Singh-Ray CPL
Raw Processed and put thru HDR in Photomatix

Great depth of color, I had to double check to make sure it wasn't CG! Beautiful piece with exquisite detail. From composition to color density, simply fantastic all around.

The pleasure is all mine. You took the very beautiful shot, the least I could do it tell you how awesome it is. I look forward to roaming thru your gallery in the future too and seeing all that is yet to come.

amazing shot again John!! Great work, but I have to ask...how do you get all the detail?? The lining on the distant clouds, the variation in color, the contrast throughout? It is truly amazing!

A very striking image by all means, and great use of layers to create an interesting landscape composition! One thing I'm not to keen on is some of the luminance levels of the middle (white) layer of clouds, some of them seem to be practically inverted which is a common side affect in some HDR images I've noticed. The rest of the image is fine though.
Personally, I'm trying to stick to filters.

Thanks! there actually wasn't much in the way of white in the clouds, pretty hazy really with all the heat and pollution blowing in from the Utah wildfires. Had a really weird brightness to it. I know what you are saying though, I have seen that as well.
I use filters too, and maybe someday, we'll be lucky enuff where cameras will do HDR and we won't have touse software.....maybe in our lifetime. Though I wouldn't count my eggs on that lol

I was actually going to make more of a comment about use of filters, but then I had a look through more of your gallery and saw that you already have that side of business taken care of!
Funny you should mention that, I was thinking about how quickly technology has progressed with photography the last few years and just how long I have left of my life... A lot can change in that time.

Very lovely... it's like a dream! Is this one single shot, or is it many? If it a single shot, you did an excellent job capturing the contrast without over/under exposing anything! If it's multiple shots, you combined them beautifully!
